The SCTA website doesn't show results for Sunday.
From what I can see, Danny Thompson qualified on Saturday with a 411.191mph run.
He backed it up on Sunday running approximately 402mph (from BangShift website)

I wish I could have been there to see it in person.

Just amazing! I can't imagine going that fast on the ground!
You could tell he was breathing heavy in the dash cam. I'd be too.

  8. Just announced Danny is packing up after setting record in his class. Wanted to go faster than Poteet (different class)
but was running low on funds.

That's kind of a shame, it would be cool to have the fastest piston engine record.

Now that he's proven what he has maybe some highbucker will help out. Good luck.

  12. What Danny has done with no backing is unheard of in this era of the most dollars goes the fastest. The car his dad designed has the potential for much more if the funding was in place. Yes, lets hope his achievement this week will generate some capital for future attempts.

Been watching the feeds from The Salt all weekend. Great Achievement by Danny Thompson and Crew!!

  18. Correct ... Danny ran 411.191 MPH on Saturday:

    Danny Thompson Aug 13,2016 timeslip.jpg

... and 402.348 MPH on Sunday:

    Danny Thompson Aug 14,2016 timeslip.jpg

So the two-way average of Danny's two runs was 406.769 MPH ... bumping the previous AA/FS class record (392.503 MPH set by Charlie Nearburg's The SPIRIT Of RETT 'liner in October of 2009) up by 14+ MPH ... and making Thompson's CHALLENGER II the fastest normally-aspirated, piston-powered, wheel-driven streamliner to ever run on the famous salt lake bed.

    NOTE:
AA = Engine displacement of 501.00 cubic inches (or greater).
FS = Unblown (i.e., no supercharger or turbocharger) Fuel Streamliner.

Fantastic numbers - but, in the real world "how fast do you want to go?-how much money do you have?" still applies.
