Projects The bucket of ugly! A de-uglifying thread...

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by need louvers ?, Aug 14, 2013.

  1. Not yet, Tim. I'm assuming that's not going to work because the water intrusion was through that connection (the charging / micro usb port), and it no longer charges through them. This is an S5 that I killed, thinking about upgrading to the (WATER RESISTANT) S7.

    I've been away from this thread far too long, but I deuglified this thing a little.... 1471238136702.jpg 1471238145848.jpg 1471238155909.jpg 1471238165380.jpg 1471238175854.jpg 1471238184343.jpg 1471238195075.jpg

Now it looks like this... 1471238263895.jpg 1471238286192.jpg

I've done more since these photos, like take the pleated grill shell off.

    A short list of changes:
    Wheels and tires.... ugh.
    Double barrel shotgun scoop... ugh.
    Fake braided hoses... gone.
Corrected the alignment from an amazing negative 5° of caster!
    Peeled off over 40 stickers.
    Returned it the engine.
DTPOOI - driving the piss out of it.

Not going to change much more. Will probably repaint the wheels as they're cream and would look better painted the same dark red as the interior.

This poor thing has obviously been through some owners completely devoid of any taste.

  9. Damn. Before I scrolled down, I was hoping those were the BEFORE pictures. Very nice save on that one. Dunno...I might have left the pleated cover on the grill. Just over-the-top enough to be cool.

To all my friends on the on this site. I spent all morning hooking the trailer to the motorhome (yeah that's a come along) and loading the roadster on it, in anticipation of being evacuated because of the Lowerlake fire that is about twenty miles away. We had to leave last year because of the Cob Mountain fire when my roadster's differential was out and apart and I had to leave it in the fire trap (wood siding) garage. Luckily that fire didn't reach us and it looks like this fire is heading away from us too.

  11. Best of luck to you and your good wife Gary and I will pray the fire turns away from your area. If you do have to go, be safe and hopefully all ends well. God's speed be with you and yours.

Ya know, you are going to have to Victoria her wheels back at some point! How about a set of 16" steel wheels with either 4.50/4.75 Firestones or 5.00 ribs up front, and 7.00 on the back?

The taller tires would help visually shorten the car a bit and make it look a bit shorter and just generally smaller.

Negative Ghost Rider, she's staying with me. It's the cleanest '54 I've ever seen. We mounted it to a '76 Chevy crew cab dually chassis and threw some wheels on it.

Eventually (need to build a shop in my backyard and put anew engine in my '50 Shoebox first) it'll be a ramp truck, probably bagged, 19.5" steel wheels, with a Cummins 12 valve and an Allison 5 speed.

I bought another cab thinking of making it a crew cab but I think I've changed my mind.

Yeah, like Jeremy said, I have that handled. I got a set of 16x4 and 16x7 wheels. Tires are 5.00-16 and 7.50-16 Excelsiors. [emoji6]

Verde I didn't want to put the motorhome's real wheels in the dirt. If it started spinning I would be (up shit creek.) The trailer was in soft dirt. Luckily I positioned the come-along in the right place and it pulled the hitch right over the ball.
Guys looks like we'll be good again this time. The fire is going the other way. I told my wife though I'm not unloading my roadster until first rain. For all those not familiar with our weather in California it is unusual for it to rain in the summer. Looks like they might have caught the arsonist. A homeless guy with a history.

    Thanks all for the thoughts.

Put a hitch on the FRONT of your tow vehicle , you'll be amazed at how easy it is to manuver a trailer in tight spaces is w/ a front hitch ..

"Gawd" (thanks Fred) guys lighten up. "This is not my first rodeo." I was just letting you know the extent of what I had to go to to get my roadster loaded before being evacuated and it went smooth as glass. And it had never been hooked behind that vehicle before.
You know I've been holding my tongue for the last year or so. "Don't speak until spoken to." Can I find another quote? I will not tell you what I think about your projects unless asked. I know now that when you post your photos you don't want criticism you just want to show us what you are doing. Really their hasn't been a picture posted in that time that I didn't want to SCREAM go back to the first few pages of this thread and read them over, and over, and over, and over again.
    Okay rant over!
