  14. I have always loved the Phantom Corsair. HRP

The Phantom Corsair is a prototype automobile built in 1938. It is a six-passenger 2-door sedan[1] that was designed by Rust Heinz of the H. J. Heinz family and Maurice Schwartz of the Bohman & Schwartz (de) coachbuilding company in Pasadena, California.Although sometimes dismissed as a failure because it never entered production, the Corsair is regarded as ahead of its time because of its futuristic features, and styling cues such as faired-in fenders and a low profile.

1941-42 Ford ''Soybean'' made in Dearborn, MI ...or as many referred "The Hemp Car''....the body was made of soybean and hemp, to curb wartime rationing....a prototype that had a lot of potential, but never really resonated favorable with the masses....engine ran on hemp fuel instead of gasoline....interesting car, but not favorable to the public Ford-Hemp-Body-Car-3.jpg 0113-henry-ford-patents-plastic-automobile.jpg

V16 1933 Cadillac. GM Australia stated producing this body style in 1935 as an all enclosed coupe (Sloper) and continued it until 1940. Ford here did the same body but later.

1957 Edsel "Raven" prototype.....if only had a chance! Most were very excited about this car, and it's option to the Ford Thunderbird, but the resources weren't favorable to the Edsel version, and never got off the ground. The car was actually driven to the ''meeting'' to discuss it's future, and although found exciting and hopeful, ...never got the traction. edsel_raven_article_1a_red_kdc.jpg View attachment 3304289

  21. Good stuff! What about factory concept type vehicles that have been built more recently that weren't built by the factory. Example:

    I concur HRP
The first time I saw this car, I thought the same thing. I'm sure it would look great painted any color but that just looks so clean in white. Not that you see lots of ElCaminos, but this car just exudes "a breath of fresh air".

This could be built from a '59 El Camino with Pontiac quarters and front sheet metal I bet (out of my league ) What a cool car

I like a lot of these concepts body wise, but a lot of the front & rear grilles are too far over the top in my opinion

I totally agree HRP.....simple, clean, and just a fine looking little truck...it all seems to 'fit' very well:)

GM designer Harley Earl was far ahead of his time with his designs. His Lesabre is one of my all time favorites. In the 90's when our Son was in College at GMI I helped move cars in for a car show they had. That is me behind the wheel of the Harley Earl Lesabre.
I like builds that are different and have created my own conversions like a 37 Chevy Station Wagon, a 37 Chevy Kingcab Pickup that my Son now owns and my current 56 Chevy ElCamino that was on display outside the GM Heritage Center during a tour a few years ago.

Boy talk about some wild stuff, I think they should have built that 55' Vette fastback too that would have been a home run

    That's the Wildcat 2.
Although not as wild, I always preferred the original concept.
