As much a mind numbing experience that a Delahaye can be, especially a stunner like the black one you're sharing, I have to say the the black GT40 next to it truly piques my interest. This year was described to me by an attendee as "sensory overload", your pictures do much to confirm it.

Yeah. Well, the GT40 was a feature this year with about 25 of them lined up at water's edge. I held back, not wanting to go any further astray from HAMB's topic guidelines. But......... HAMB (27 of 59).jpg

I think you could break the hamb rules to show some GT 40's
also if any gets the chance to read the book" Go Like Hell "do it
it tells all about what a hot rod the GT 40 really is. Shelby's gang really took it to the next level after it was yanked from John Wyer's hands
    thanks for the great pix

Interesting feature on this one, for those not hip, that windshield isn't static that low. On the back of the heavier glass frame on each side, you'll see a rack type gear. There's a mechanism behind the instrument panel that cranks it down like a side window. I can't raise a right hand to it but I think it goes down flush with the cowl, or at least very nearly so. Awesome stuff...

Mark, I have the Car Guide from the meet, and can look up the details if that number on the plaque in front of the wheel was a bit clearer. The car was runner up or third place in the "Best Of Show" running, it would have been the winner if was judging. Bob
Ok, Found the info this is a 1938 Delahaye 165 Figoni & Falaschi cabriolet. Paris show car first owned W.E. "Billy" Butin in the UK, second owner was Adrian Conan Doyle, son of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle of Sherlock Holmes fame.

It's a Ghia bodied Chrysler from about the early 60's. They were handmade in very limited numbers and sold to kings and movie stars.

There was a writeup in one of the car mags (Rod Action?) on Barry (guitar of the Mamas and the Papas?)
He was in and out of an old shop in So. Cal while the owners were installing a 327 Chev in his sport car.

The title of the subject: "Stovebolt in a Siata". Think his 'car-capade' was sideways mentioned in their song, "No one's gettin' fat 'cept Mama Cass". Car was a real 'bomb', stoplight hero.
