I have the front half of my frame done, engine detailed and back in. Just waiting on finishing the firewall before I set the cab back on.
My floor is in a couple sections, smaller dog house which fits under the seat opens as well. Used a steer clear unit for the steering
HOT DIGGITY the truck is looking good, man! like that color. what is it? and that steer clear is the big ticket solution! most guys don't want to dig that deep, but that gets it done! JML
The dash/firewall are a pewter color off a late model dodge truck. Not really sure what color to use on the exterior yet
This is what I'm working on for the bed. It's a 2011 Dodge Ram bed narrowed and will try to modify the fenders for the rear. That are 1939 Plymouth car fenders
Need to roll the whole front edge of the bed and will lose the body line and drop the lower edge down to meet the running board that will tie it together
Still working on the bed. Took 23" out of the center. Still need to fill the tail lights and make a roll pan and get the fenders to work. Will also remake the lower box sides to lose the body line and meet up with runing boards
Drove it outside for the first time. Still looking for a hood ornament. The big dodge front emblem and a few grill bars
As all this metal fab & welding is new to me...... To widen the fenders I had a chunk of 1 1/2" exhaust tubing bent to the curve of the fender. I then bolted that to the side of the bed. Then used cleakos to attach the 6" strip, tacked the strip to the exhaust tube. Slid the fender in place, cut at the edge and tacked it back into one piece. Now it will still just unbolt. So far im a good tacker & grinder but it seems to work
Yes I rolled the whole front edge of the bed to match the curve of the cab and added a whole filler panel on the front sides to remove the body line and extend down to the full length running board Im making. As the bed caps were plastic I also made them from steel.
I know I'm late to the party on this but it never occurred to me that a streer clear could be used anywhere but on the firewall. I'm having a "why didn't I think of that" moment. That's awesome, as is the whole build.
