yup. It was a pretty exciting time. The Donovan was relatively new on the scene, there were a bunch of guys knocking on the five second door, there were still FED adherents around, some of whom were running pretty well, lots of buzz about top fuel, more than there had been in the previous couple years.

WOW!!!! Is there no END to the depth of TOTALLY COOL SHIT you own??!! I have never even seen those!! I do have the super shops ad that was in the digger after Hill the Thrill ran the first 4, and its framed and autographed. I pulled it out, took it to SIR and got it signed. But man, that doesn't even hold a candle to that glass!

One of many things I remember happening at that time was some green kid no-one had ever heard of took Garlits out with a holeshot in the first round at Irwindale after he had qualified #1. Wild times! Man, you must have flipped finding that at a swap.
Many years ago when I was much younger I to could've been a member of the 5 second club, sometimes it didn't even take that long!
