  6. sunday i went to barnes and noble to get a copy. they still had the old issue on the rack. I went across the street to a grocery store and they had several. I have never understood how they distribute magazines. while we are on the discussion of magazines hot rod said they want to do a feature on the new car soon. a photographer has already contacted me. sounds like they want a burnout with the trailer hooked up. no arm twisting needed here.

    Well done and well deserved
Can't wait for to get that thing sorted out. Drag Week may never be the same

Maybe next week I'll start on a turbine powered 55 with a straight axle just to mess with their heads a little more

  8. to say they were shocked by a car showing up on nitro would be a understatement. I ordered a bunch of nozzles today so I can fine tune the cylinders. that should help keep the plugs firing.

  9. I'm wondering if they won't have a rule against it next year, you see they changed the rules in the sealed hood category after Squirrel took his blower off from underneath.

  11. I hope not. after we made a few passes they were cool with things. I think they were worried about a on track incident. a big fire or oil down would for sure cause a rule change. the safety crew was ready for me when I made my passes. on Friday when I made the turn off I could see the safety crew taking off some of their gear when they saw I was safely stopped. the fans seemed to like nitro just fine. having something other than a turbo ls also gave them something to talk about. what ever they decide we were the first to run nitro on drag week.

Hmmm... My brother and I kicked around the idea of running injected Nitro in the Prefect for Meltdown. Maybe we should tip the can in the Scout's blown injected small block... What could go wrong ?

What speeds/ET are you hoping to reach? Here's this year's result in Unlimited:

Winner: Jeff Lutz – 6.191 ET, 240.018 MPH

Second: Michael Wenzler – 7.737 ET, 168.256 MPH

Third: Magnus Frost – 8.115 ET, 168.768 MPH

Brian , Playing with Nitro you will have a small tool box full of jets , nozzles ,spring shims ,by pass pills , Plugs & and a few pumps & drives , & extra piston's
And a Note book full of notes !
RCD on west coast makes good products

THAT IS A BAD A$$$ LOOKING RIDE

  25. thanks jim for posting the pics. eddy I do run a diaper on the car. im adding more and more nozzles to my collection. I ran nitro in my 65 for years so I have a decent collection of tools and parts. I get most of my stuff from good vibrations or wizards warehouse. I used rcd for a lot of my late model parts. all good people. only a small percent of my fuel goes in above the blower that's why I don't have a bag.

  27. with the weather going bad around here soon I decided to go run the car at Milan this weekend. my son lives outside of Detroit so he will meet me there. I need more seat time and I need to make up for the late start to this season.

  29. I thought I would leak the engine down to see whats going on. leaking the cylinders is a good way to determine the overall health of the engine. I had done all of the regular servicing the previous night after work. I felt like the car was kind of flat on the last pass. it just didn't sound very crisp. my gut feeling was something was not right and I needed to dig deeper. It was my off day so I had some time before I needed to load up to go to the race at Milan mi. well that didn't go as planned. number one was down 45 on the leak down several were down 25 and number eight was 85. with the headers off I could feel air blowing out of the exhaust. so the heads came off and were loaded in the truck. off I went to rogers in cedar falls iowa. for drag week I set the spring pressure lighter to prevent burning up pushrod tips with all of the street driving. I went a little too far. six exhaust valves were bent. out of those we straightened four while replacing two. when they were put back in I added a .060 shim setting them up the way I usually do. there is plenty of room under the retainer with the .100 long valves. there was no piston damage as they just barely touched the valves. the intakes are titanium so the are a lot lighter and were all fine. I left home at noon arrived at the shop after five. left the shop at eight and arrived back home at 1:45am. the alarm came early at 4:40 this morning so I could go to work. luckily its only a eight hr. shift. I need to put it back together and load up for the race in Milan mi. the alarm will come early again this time at 1:00 am. so we can get to the track when the gates open. the key to running a nitro car is to stay up on the maintenance. a lot of damage can be prevented by staying up on it. i cant believe I used to do this on a weekly basis. welcome to nitro racing.

  30. 1474639392051.jpg 1474639398903.jpg we used a lathe and a indicator along with a cresant wrench to straighten the valves. The were about .050 out. Getting them within .001 allows them to be reground. it requires some patience and feel to get the valve that close. The seats looked good so a quick lap job and were are good.
