they have a good reputation, I would think they don't want to jeopardize it by selling junky lug nuts, so I would bet they are probably ok. I will need two sets for the five spokes on the front of my 65 falcon. They look the part, that's for sure. Thanks for the tip!

 

Guess this thread can include steel wheels.
Question, which company's steel 40 Ford style wheels will accept factory Ford 1940 caps and trim rings?
I ask this question because some of the reproduction steel wheels DO NOT, and require buying their dumb ass sized hub caps, to fit their dumb ass size wheels.

I came in late so forgive me but,
I don't really understand...
This was asked to be a critique so......
I love the panel, but the wheels, sorry, are not friendly.
The offset is wrong, the ribs are awkward,
and the tires are too wide and too short, and too far out of the
wheel wells for HAMB friendly.
"New repro" and "HAMB friendly" don't seem
to go together very well.
I just put "Mags" up on parts for sale here
and there are many for sale. Same for CL. I understand wanting
good wheels, cool wheels, HAMB friendly wheels,
but it seems pretty obvious to me, you can determine
what wheels are friendly by looking at dated car pictures
which are all over the place and pretty easily tell what
is and what isn't. It is obvious though that everybody
has an opinion, judging by the number of posts.
For me personally, I know what is when I see it.
Of course I was around for most all of it the first time!
Just my $.02!

 

Tony, we established pretty early on that the wheels on the panel were intended to be ironic/humorous.

Most newer 5 spokes just don't have the right look. As far as early ones go, there were more than just Americans back in the day - some were good, others, well...

I like these - early straight spoke Appliance - I even like the lug recesses. These are one piece aluminum, very nicely cast. I blasted them and refinished the lips front and back. Hard to find in 5 on 5 1/2" too! Too bad there aren't more new options like this out there now.
Oh, these are now near mint and are for sale!

Steve, I DESPERATELY need something like this in a 15x6 5 on 5" or smaller for one of my projects.

 

I bought these yesterday. Old 15x8.5 will look good restored.

Man, I ALMOST bought some 14x6's on 4 3/4 at the swap on Sunday, but I didn't really need them for anything. Shoulda pulled the trigger on them anyway, $75 CDN, and they were decent shape.

When did Halibrand do 10 spokes ? They kinda look like either a bolt on wheel or the hub is for the rotor to bolt to ?

Looks like there is an opportunity for some contemporary wheel manufactures to offer some traditional looking wheels worth buying. Not seeing much in this thread.

 

I think if they did a proper sixties tork thrust look-a-like, a lot of guys wouldn't buy them. I see guys wanting to butcher/narrow survivor wheels on here pretty often.

 

Sure do look just like a two piece 6" E.T. spoke wheel.

 

I wasn't even gonna say it. Totally obvious what they are.

 

Can you post a close up, straight on pic of the front wheels, what year were they made. Are they from Halibrand in Kansas? Thanks

 

I have 2 15x6 Ansen Top Eliminators on the front of my wagon I would love to have 2 more. I also need 2 center caps for the ones I have now.

Anybody know what brand these rims are? The center cap is a fox? The owner has a set of them and they came off an early 60's show car. They look like Keystones, but I don't think they are?

 

Look like Keystones to me. Had a set in the 60's. They may have been sold under other names.

 

Keystone Kustomags, the forerunner (and way better looking) than Keystone Klassics, they don't have the webbing between the spokes and the centers are not chromed. Available in late '64 judging by the ads in old magazines.

As for the center cap, there was an Australian version of these wheels that went by a different name, I wonder if that's where the caps came from? Maybe the whole wheels are the Australian version?

 

Bob, they are 15x8.5, 5 on 5.5", 3.5" backspacing.

"Dominion" Royal Masters, I think that was the Canadian version. Even more rare! Now that's what I'm talkin' aboot.

 

I think I have seen a pic of these tires and wheels on a Victoria based car in sixties car show photos, I have been looking for the photo since you pm'ed me.
