I am trying to find out if anyone knows if Don Smart is okay (in business). My father in law ordered a pair of the B post pillars for his 34 3 window from Don about this time last year and we have not received them yet. Don contacted him in January 2016 to tell him to send the money because the post were almost done. We have not received them and can not contact him because the phone just rings. We would be willing to pay someone to just pick up the posts and ship them to us. Any help would be greatly appreciated. On a side note we did order the quarter panels for his 1934 3 window and they look great but we can not install them until the posts are installed.. This project is almost at a stand still.... I know Don does some amazing work so I'm not trying to cause him any grief but I just hoping someone can help.. Thanks in advance
Don Smart does this all time? It is shame how he does business. Hope you get your parts. Keep the pressure on him. There a lot great metal men out there that will do your work w/ a lot the drama. It is real shame to have deal w/ people like Don Smart.
I second what hotrod willie says. Don has a reputation that goes way back. Just don't get it how these people remain in business given the small community of us car guys.
He likely stays in business because we are desperate for the parts He makes that you can't hardly find otherwise.
If he's got called ID. He can tell it's you when you call. Try calling on a different phone. (might work)
Call the local sheriffs dept. There has been threads on here and ford barn about this guy and the way he conducts business. Good luck!!!
That guy is a nightmare to deal with. Had to hassle with the same type of problem for so long that I finally had to just blow off the parts and move on with the project. They finally showed up.... Maybe a year or so late if I remember properly. The pieces were junk, didn't fit, and I tossed most of them in the dumpster. Blow it off and move on, you probably won't see the parts and you'll never see the money again.
Well after posting this to The HAMB Don Smart called my father in law the same evening and left a message. My father in law returned the call the next morning and Don Smart answered the phone. Don Smart said that he received a call from a HAMB member. So he wanted to call and explain the delay. Don promised that the next day he would send out the posts and call my father in law back with a tracking number though we haven't received a call with the tracking number we are hopefully (with fingers crossed, toes crossed, eyes crossed) that Don followed thru with what he said.. I will post an update again in a few days.
Kudos to the HAMB.... Thanks to the hamb we received the parts from Don Smart yesterday. We really appreciate the guys on the hamb who influenced Don to get the parts to us....
A little bump up to the top. I have a buddy, Tom Higgenbothan from Indiana, that bought a pair of B post pillars and some door tops almost 3 years ago. He still hasn’t received any parts. His project is at a standstill until he gets parts. Does anyone know how to contact him? A few Donnie Smart panels came with my 34 and they were nothing short of outstanding. Sure glad I didn't have to wait for them.... -Abone.
