ive been working on finishing off the shifter.initially I wanted it in the farthest forward position on the trans mount shifter assembly.made a cover for the floor and thought id that finished up.according to lokar I needed a bell crank for this position.bought the bell crank, however when I mounted it ,it hit the crossmember..I needed the lever in the one o clock position but I could only get it in the 11 o clock position.considered moving the pivot forward by 1 1/2 inches and made a bracket to bolt to the tailshaft it worked .then I tried moving the shifter back I position 1 3/4 inch..it still fitted through the opening in the floor.i didn't need the bellcrank now.KISS..so I made a newcover extending it back some.it didn't look far off stock so I went with it..4mm alloy plate I had some in stock. SHIFTER HATCH 001.JPG
you can see the difference in the covers i will use less screws this time, when its painted black it should disappear.i will run the dyna deck under the overlap at the back of the cover.1/2 inch pipe insulation is great to protect the shifter while working around it

potential problem left.the pressing in the floor is 8mm high and the cover is 4mm for 12 total.if mytrottle foot is sitting against it I ll have to make the cover again in something thinner.making four covers nothing new there.

Well good morn you Irish nut - your truck is coming along nicely - got concrete poured for my garage - wow what a difference - started rewiring the garage - putting in new sub panel - outlets for welder and air compressor, etc. - had to clean out for the pad - what a mess - installing the rear made it easy to pull out my chassis - going through and sorting out will help down the road - I like the way you've made your brackets - by the way what's dyna deck ? haven't heard of that - keep posting and updating - like yer build !!!

hi mike glad to hear you r making progress.dont forget to paint the floor before you do too much work on it makes a huge difference keeping it clean.paint it green or red so you can find any washers you may drop, just don't paint it grey.

(http://www.jegs.com/i/Dynamat/327/21206/10002/-1 ) .dynadeck is sound /heat insulation for the floor you can leave it exposed and walk on it like a mat .CHRIS

Yes I was going to paint it before I put my stuff back but the rain came and didn't get to - like the idea of painting it green / red - Lord knows me eyes ain't what they use to be - heard of dyna mat and yes it is expensive - seen other alternatives - but haven't gotton that far - Take care Chris and keep on truckin !

brakes n washers 001.JPG ive been working on the brake pedal assembly.brake slightly fowled the floor near the end of its stroke.had to fix that. this was due to a bump in the floor.had another small problem. the back of speedo was hitting the brake bracket.the solution is raise the brake pivot and move it closer to the firewall at the same time.

made a guide to drill the new hole as accurate as I could.guide worked well.
drilled out the holes .no clearance problems now,3/8 inch clearance for the speedo. the 3, 3/8 holes are close together so made some support washers to get welded on maybe tomorrow
of course will have to paint it again post welding

had a change of plan with the por15.under the fenders will go to bare metal, make any repairs then2 pac primer, couple of coats of body blast (paint with rubber chips in it )(paintable)then a couple coats gloss black anywhere its not visible (underneath).I think the gloss weathers better.

did some work to the cowl vent.new pivot bolts with locknuts.had trouble with cowl vent seals ordered up a new one in rubber too thick wouldn't close ordered stock replacement too thick 1/4 inch wouldn't close.(very dense rubber),so got one made in 3mm sponge type material fits fine.now I could finalize the rest of the vent.handle was hitting the mounting bolt for the m/cylinder.moved the handle to the left.drilled and filed the hole to take carriage bolts.stuck them in place with two pac adhesive and painted them with the face of the vent .disappeared .needed a spring tried a stainless throttle return spring.it fits but need more tension, got some on the way.needed a small spacer to put the spring in its original location.spacer in stainless by mick at MEDAZA CYCLES .top job .didn't connect the drain from the cowl vent to thefitting on the firewall as it exited above the dizzy, routed the hose to an alternative exit in the floor

never liked the way the spoon throttle felt underfoot.in this cab where space is tight it was a small target on the floor.trimmed th spoon a bit and made a new pedal from some 2mm steel I had left over from another job.gave it a trial run it looks much better now any part of my foot will do to push the throttle.moving it to the right is like giving me more legroom.the throttle can go up to 1 1/2 in to the right or 1/2 in to the left on the adjustable mounting brkt or up a good bit.brake pedal has adjustable linkage and can mount left or right of the shaft.should .pedal also adjusts up or down. new pedal 001.JPG drawing gone to be laser cut

trial fitted the dash again ,two small issues I can live with vent will only open to the first position.thats fine I don't want any crows sneaking in and ill have to cut a small hole in the glovebox to let the end of the m/cylinder peek in about a 1/2 inch ill try to do a neat job here .no clearance issues at back of ig switch or the other switches plenty room infact
covers were missing in the floor ,I made some from 1.5 mm sheet mounting them with countersunk screws.then stuck 1.5 mm rubber to the floor keeping everything on the level.plan 3mm rubber mats self adhesive.this will almost bring the shifter cover level and keep things comfortable underfoot

not a bother be pleased to help.there were 3 hatches in my floor at one time ,one around the gearchange one to access the battery? and one to get at the m/cylinder.someone hacked this one out enlarging it and weakened the whole floor.i reinforced it.i mounted the engine lowish to improve centre of gravity and avoiding the need to chop up the floor.ive fitted 700r4 I reckon u will get a Muncie under there easy, dont know where the shifter will need to be.i tried to keep my shifter in the original place and an adjustable shifter from lokar solved that problem, there are more photo of the

floor further bach the threadgear cover in masking tape was an earlier cover I made.3mm rubber is self adhesive
