Features Kustoms blues? I need to see some kustoms....

  1. No biggie, Doc. Gotta do what you gotta do. Besides, most of the car stuff is about over for the year (at least it is here), it's getting dark earlier and earlier, and the cold and snow isn't too far away. I just hope that all the projects you need to get done will be completed before then if they are the outdoor variety, if not, winter is long..........E

  5. Got the foundation set for the greenhouse, but still have to finish a shower in our bathroom. Plumber was just here Friday to rough in the new fixtures, now I have to sheetrock, waterproof and tile the shower. No big woop... LOL But, after the Starliner and all the rain that came through Wichita at the beginning of the weekend, the Chevy took in quite a bit of water, as did most everyone else's car. When I got home, I gutted it to let it all dry out and took the opportunity to improve the insulation and have now decided on new carpet, so naturally, the car is still all apart....again. Shower, carpet, shower, carpet.....quite the dilemma. LOL Fortunately, the Merc is all together and able to keep my Kustom Blues at bay driving it every day, but I'm gettin' antsy to get the Chevy back together....for the second time this year. LOL

  6. The paint on this Ford is very cool, any additional info on it? OR the primered car?

The sixties were challenging for customizers.
Detroit had trumped the longer, lower, wider thing, as well as fins, chome, bullets, scoops, and three tone paint jobs.
American laws dictated round headlights, (betcha didn't know that), and an influx of Plexi/covers played catch up to European Cibies. (Worthy of a separate thead.)
In desperation, customizers turned to asymetry. Manta Ray, Mysterion, CC Dream Rod and a host of others exemplify the new frontier in auto styling ushered in by the great innovators. There were may successful examples, but perhaps none more successful than this great Chevy. It truly defines the cusp between the traditional custom, and the subsequent irrelevance ushered in by the muscle car era. (i.e., military draft, easy credit, and factory drag race sponsorship. Whoopie!....)

,.................................................................Think this car falls in as a mild custom, lots of mods, Painted this car in my driveway and repainted it again after going back to correct my body work, blocking, feathering, etc. Had alot of fun back then, endless energy and ambition, Now that I'm a senior, retired, have some skills, equipment, etc., But the energy and ambition, like my hair has left the building. I still get things done, BUT, nothing happens fast is my story and I'm sticking to it.

That Hudson above has to be one of my all time favorite customs. So many major and minor mods that come together with that super clean color. Stance and flow is just right, and not too low.

Wild and subtle at the same time.....
