Vintage shots from days gone by!

Here is a shot of our great, great grandmother in Kansas City in 1901. Near their house on Park Avenue. A bunch of 3 year old girls having a great time outside.

See, that's what I mean - he always had an optimistic outlook!

 

God, I loved the pappy quotes. Called my old man pappy once - didn't walk good for 3 days.

Yeah, "old man" and "pappy" are terms you use AFTER their gone...

 

George C. Scott - I'll segue into a (boring) drag racing story on him:

See, took a buddy and his wife out to see "The New Centurians" - starring George C.

Clown in a superbee dogs us all the way from Telegraph Rd to M-24, but I'm laying low - trying to play good citizen.

Anyway, we get to 24, and this yay hoo starts pulling in front, jamming the brakes, waving $50 dollar bills - wants a money run,

OK. Danny says, hey John take him on, Yosh & me are cool with that!

So I do -20 mph hammer roll, blow him off- he wants best of 2 now - alright...

Now we're up to Lk Orion damned near, and we do a 2nd one - oh, it was glorious.

Seconds later, I'm back to legal, the clown blows by, and I got blue lights on me.

FK! The badge says - "you stay right the F there, I'll be back".

Se we wait, and we wait, 2 more sets of lights go by, and one turns around, and papers me for DRAG RACING. Oh, I'm gonna lose the license on this one.


So I go to court. Badge is waiting outside of court room, and flags me down.

Hey, you seem like a nice guy, how about I cut you a deal, and we make it just a 2-point "unsafe start"?

Naw, I says, I'm gonna explain to the judge how this guy was harassing me, and making it dangerous (WTF was >I< thinking?). Cop really works on me - which I thought very strange - but I'm a very stubborn (and stupid) type, so I stick to my guns.

We go in.

Judge asks the officer - "are both parties present?

Officer is red in the face "No your honor - the other party is still in military jail, and they are not giving us a date for his release, pending court martial"

"Dismissed"

What?! Halla frinkin loo yah!

Turns out, kid was AWOL.

And Michigan law said BOTH parties have to be charged and tried.

Yes, I have been lucky more times than I can count, and I don't apologize for that one bit!
