Bodywork doesn't need to be flawless every time. Just do the best you can and when this paint job wears off, you can have another go at it. Looks good so far.

A little more work over the weekend. ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1464612649.987218.jpg ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1464612666.791778.jpg ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1464612681.896419.jpg
Painted the back bumper , replaced the brake light lenses and installed the gas door trim. I couldn't wait to get that price mounted. Also cleaned up the glass of the overspray.

Paintspill that looks great! I notice that in the pic of the whole car if you had moved the OT van and the plastic trash cans that pic could have been right out of the late 50s early 60s -right down to the neighbor kids pedal car:)

Nice work. I really love watching threads like this where guys, not having done body work before, just jump in and have a go.
The inspiration it provides to other car guys is awesome!!
Have you thought about how it would look with the bumpers painted in the Copper colour that's on the roof?

thanks, thats what inspires me too. i haven't thought about the bumpers in copper. but i am toying with the idea of doing the rims in the same copper.

Nice!! We're (maybe) neighbours! I have a '53 as well, and I'm in the Hamilton area. Without blowing your cover, are you nearby?

So cool to see a more door family build! I've been away from my project for a while, but reading this thread has given me some new found motivation. I, as well, have zero experience! Bought my '53 Chevy as a family project 3 years ago and learned how to weld, do some body work, wiring, and hope to paint it myself. As you can see, I've gotten rid of a few stock parts off mine, so PM me if you are in need of some parts as I am a short drive from T.O.

Here's what I have so far.

She's awesome. Did you weld in the grill yourself. I'm thinking of doing that.

The rear end of that four door looks super cool with the exhaust like that? Is it stock caddy too?

Thanks! Yes it is......'56 Caddy quarters and bumper. Had to take almost 6" out of the bumper to make it fit!
