Here some more pictures of the Turnpike Cruiser concept car.
Two show the car in a junkyard.....
Can anyone tell if the car is under restoration?
    Is it in the collection of Joe Bortz perhaps? 56MercuryXMTurnpikeRest1.jpg 56MercuryXMTurnpikeRest2.jpg 11028023_987700607919576_4101888494472135541_n.jpg 11888027_987700617919575_2584499934069134356_n.jpg 11902517_987700661252904_5568066536972945044_n.jpg 11933441_987700687919568_3129701697266078990_n.jpg 12119116_938113739602191_2464077025345485544_n.jpg 12654372_1033202480054552_5800596781463920658_n.jpg tumblr_nwlajlifJE1qcdxvpo1_1280.jpg

  15. A younger brother had a 59 Merc Park Lane cruiser - I never cared for it much - he kept it busy for awhile.

    Can definitely see the resemblance.

What do you the gross weight is on that weight? East Texas Log Haulers have to stay under 84,000, don't fill trailer up to top of stanctions. That's a scary load!

  18. I'm pretty sure that was an over limit weight even for then...

Found it labelled: "Off Road Hayes Truck with a load of Western Red Cedar, near Port McNeill"

Only a couple of feet higher than this one - which is hauling just one log:

  21. This in reference to modern ones:
    http://www.ontariotruckingnews.com/magazine/featured-articles/534-fat-trucks-of-bc

"Graham Lasure’s company currently operates two Pacific P16’s, two Kenworth 850’s with 121 axle systems, and one Pacific P16 low bed truck with 121’s. All are updated with electronic S60 engines and equipped with water-cooled drum brakes due to the high heat generated descending from the loading area. These trucks have a GCWR of 248,000 lbs."

  23. HA! We in the NW spit on your puny "rest of the country" trucks!
Here's some examples! Used to be a BLAST in the 50's -60's driving at the coast or in the mountains with a HUGE LOADED log truck 5 inches from your rear bumper!
