Believe me Jason,I HATE yellow cars, and yet I have two of them!! Problem is when a steel bodied Willys comes your way at a decent price, color doesn't matter..I'll repaint it or live with it..I like the un chopped look as well as chopped and I think I'll just leave this one stock height..Maybe I'll find another 4 dr. sedan to hack up and turn into a chopped coupe!..Speaking of dark oxidized mags, wait til you see what I found!! Magnesium Halibrand Sprints to match the rear wheels!!

..I agree,I'm gonna leave it stock height.

Funny about the yellow too- I'd NEVER paint a car that color, but on your car it looks PERFECT- it's a time capsule for sure. Good stuff!

    Morning,

Me, I like them chopped and not so sky high in the nose, think Jack Coonrod's car. Yellow is good! The photo of the orange car was swiped from the orange car thread. I am very happy with my purchase of American Rebel Halibrand lookalikes, American made, nice quality, decent price, and great customer service. Congrats on a nice car.

  6. I feel ya on the paint. If I had a steel bodied willys come my way I would care if it was painted yellow with polka dots! Magnesium Halibrand Sprints!!! Dam that's gonna be sweet! The Cragars aren't bad but those Mags are gonna look Killer! I gotta see this thing in person!

Thanks John...Yeah, I like them chopped too! But,I'm thinking Jack Merkel style before it was painted gold..My car lettered up could be a dead ringer for it.. 5502285270_37af43d3e0_b.jpg merkle.jpg
And then if that isn't enough Yellow..Merkel also had a 40 coupe that looked like this. c827c671b952ce20ac65843edb65d933.jpg

  8. Just to clarify Merkel's gold car is not the yellow car. The gold car is one of the early fiberglass bodied cars of the mid sixties. Ron Norman who owns the gold car and the '39 black car has been trying to find the steel yellow car. Anyone seen it?

Nice job on the "photoshop" chop, but looking at the stock height picture, with the expanse of metal that makes up the door panel, aesthetically I think the proportions are PERFECT as is. I wouldn't touch the exterior of this car at all- I even have gotten to like the yellow- gives it a real old timey gasser look ( which is what it IS.) With the Mag wheels, it brings me back to the "Gasser Wars" of the 60's .
Sorry to keep jamming your thread, George, but I can't help it! This car is TOTALLY COOL!

Gent's- I was fortunate, really fortunate to've parked next to George's '33 Willys coupe on 10-30-2016 at The Englishtown 's "Digs" ( 1/8 mile ) drags... I took a few pics and / but So did everyone else !!!
What I'll be interested in seeing is his new creation ( The A-V8 roadster for the Next TROG event) in Wildwood... "rumours" are that it might have a Flathead with OEM Ardun V-8 having supercharger ?

    Here's a few vid's of previous E-Town "Digs"

    Happy Thanksgiving, Tom
