I am new to HAMB.... and new to posting. I am not an experienced mechanic, but I am willing and able to learn as I go. I will have a lot of questions, probably a lot of them basic stuff too. I am trying to get this panel truck in good working order on a budget. I want to do everything that I can myself unless it is just best to have a shop do it... I don't want to mess it up. I have just rebuilt my brakes and I am about to attemp to rebuild my clutch. Also, I am looking for advice about the rear end. I am not sure if it is the original or not. I think the drive shaft is not original as it is not enclosed.... someone told me that the 53 truck (1 ton) has an enclosed drive shaft. Any comments?
My 54 1 Ton panel was an Enclosed Driveline. I though that they all were. I know that my 53 Chevy 1/2 ton pickup is enclosed also. CJO13
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news................ Rules around here are that the next person joining with a long panel must immediately give up possession of said vehicle. Futhermore I have been apointed to take charge of said vehicle and ***ure that it is secured in a safe place..................... Welcome to the Hamb. Poke around a little and get a feel for things. Then check out the AD Truckers social group. There is where a bunch of folks into the same thing your into hang out.
I believe that it's called a "torque tube" when the shaft is enclosed. My 53' panel had one....aaaaand now its gone! Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
