Technical Insert for Weber aluminum flywheel?

McLeod used to own Weber. They should be able handle it for you.

 

I was looking a bit askance at that as well. Its going on a '57 283 with 327 rods, so it will need to be re-balanced anyway.
I was supposed to keep an eye out for a bottom at Monroe, but I totally forgot. FWIW, I paid $200 CDN ( ) for the bell, so VERY cheap. with the dollar the way it is, that's about $170 US, and I didn't have to pay any shipping. If nothing else, I will make a new bottom out of 1/4" plate.

 

The inserts are also furnace hardened.

Wish I could tell you whether it was 'pressure cast' or not, George. That was in 1961 (?) or thereabouts, and that 'old Y block' was turning 7 grand every time I ran it.

Jerks about wore out the head bolt holes from all the teardowns...not ONCE did they realize the pistons were in there backwards! LOL
That flywheel coming in sure cooled my heels for awhile...

 

Reminds of a great story about my old Mentor, Bob Crosbie. I had put together several SBC's and mopars that way, was talking to him about putting them in backwards in a sbf I was building. He didn't bat an eye, just said "cant see how it'll hurt, if you are putting it together, it'll probably blow up anyway..."

 

I had my steel insert torch cut. But there are dozens of water jet guys around. That is an easy part to fix George.
