Good work. Best that the unfixable ones get stripped and scrapped and the fixable ones get resold to someone who'll build them, rather than just having them sit there forever or go directly to the junk.

Some guys like to bitch about old cars getting parted out, like every single one should get saved. But then they just sit around and go to shit. Best to salvage what can be salvaged now before it's too late.

 

Interesting that you mentioned your search for a '49 Merc glove box lid. Somewhere there is a rusty, too-far-gone-to-save '49 Merc rusted up to the door handles, sinking into the ground, tree growing up through the engine compartment, covered in layers of wet leaves or pine straw--you struggle to get a door open, and inside there is a perfect glove box door, maybe even a really nice complete dash, maybe a nice Merc steering wheel...

 

And a beautiful gal to help with the removal who just happens to notice the perfect dome light.
Then brings a nice cold beer, or three, and tells you what a good job you did today.
And how her daddy has a barn full of old cars ad she was just waiting for a real man who would appreciate that stuff.
Then the alarm goes off.......

Looks like a '36 Chevrolet in the upper right- wonder if it's a humpback, or a flatback?

 

Saw this 3 window from a distance, a bit disappointed that it's a Chevy and pretty wore out.
I'm guessing a 1931.

 

Man, I'd love those roof side panels !!!

Rust-wise, it looks pretty good, but being the typical pre-1936 GM product, the wood framing is rotted away. It's definitely worth saving. New wood kits are available, or steel tubing could be used to frame the body.

 

Not really, but wanting something and actually getting it are two different things.
Just because a car is sitting in a field doesn't mean it's available, if it is, you have to still barter with someone who probably thinks it's made of gold, then find somewhere to store it while you build the ones in front of it.
They are cool, they make awesome looking cars, but not worth the inconvience at the time. Maybe in the future...

This week end find
A Vespa 400


And a right hand drive rust free torpedo Model A, it was in a barn that collapsed on it, sad...

 

Looks like a 1929 Plymouth or Chrysler with a very early Buick radiator and shell.

 

Regarding post 11669; what exactly is a torpedo Model A ?

Found these a month or so ago. There was evidence of more but they got hauled off recently.
