Hey fellas. I'm gonna be in Vancouver Canada this weekend and would love to shoot a car while there. Anyone in the area have something I might like along with some spare time?

If so, send me a convo.

Very little hot rod scene in Vancouver itself, most of the action is in Langley, Maple Ridge and Surrey. The heaviest concentration is Langley, about 30 miles East of the city, on the South side of the Fraser River.

  4. Nice try George, but you know Ryan can't bring a Kevlar vest across the border. [emoji12]
Ryan, call Luke Balogh at Luke's Custom Machine in North Van.

^^good point, Luke can hook you up for sure, he'll know someone with a nice car in the city limits. The weather is ok on Saturday, turning to crap on Sunday.

  7. Yes, come out to Langley,it's safe

  8. Saw some neat stuff at Petersens right next to Luke's place a few months ago. Might get him to bring the Avanti out.

  9. You might want to get a hold of Dave York

Dave York is here in Surrey, its not really clear by Ryans post whether he is looking for cars in the burbs, or right in Vancouver sounds like he is going to be in Vancouver. If he is going to come out to this area, theres dozens of guys he can hook up with. If he wants to come out this way, he could talk to HAMBer @HemiDeuce in Tsawwassen or @bchra guy in Langley, either of them know lots of people. I am out in the boonies in north Maple Ridge at my other place on Saturday, I have a body being delivered, so I am not around. Sunday the weather is going to be ugly, so if he want to set up a photoshoot, he should do it Saturday.

  12. The largest concentration of coolest stuff this side of the mountains is roughly located around Mt. Vernon Washington. Though the Canadian cars I see frequently have been equally amazing if not better cars. They just seem to be fewer than what is down here.

  13. I don't know why I really mentioned that as obviously it's another country. It's just easy to go from Vancouver to Seattle. Probably more that I consider British Columbia part of the whole "Cascadia" pnw area stretching from whistler to portland.

Langley has an intense car scene. Its one of the few towns I know of where if you go there on any given afternoon during the spring or summer when the weather is nice, you will see multiple cars out just driving around town and running errands and so on. Not all of them are "traditional" by any means, but LOTS of hot rods and musclecars just out driving around, like it used to be when I was a kid.

I agree with this, its really the same along the west side of the Cascadia range, theres more difference in climate and scenery and so on when you travel west to east, than it is north to south. As far as just your natural surroundings, it feels the same around Seattle/Portland area as it does around Vancouver. Once you cross the Cascades its much dryer, not as lush and green.

    I didn't know that Billy.
I know Facebook is sort of frowned upon on here, but heres a link to Lauries facebook page.

He is pretty close to Lukes shop. Might be worth checking out. You just head east from downtown on Hastings and take the second narrows bridge (I think they call it the Iron Workers Memorial Bridge now) If you are coming in from east of downtown on the Trans Canada highway, you just go under the tunnel and follow it straight onto the bridge. I think its about two exits after you cross the bridge, Lukes shop is just a couple blocks off to your left, in an industrial area, Lauries shop is right there too. If you aren't planning to go further out into the burbs that probably your best bet.

I'll at the Bridge pub across the street from Luke's at around 3:30-4:00 tomorrow.
Laurie's shop is about 200 feet to the west of Luke's shop.
Luke was supposed to be going to the races at Fomosa but apparently had
Problems with the engine in the 554 car, so he should be there ( not at the pub
    but at his shop)

I'm headed to Vancouver via Seattle with the wife for just a vacation... I've never been to this part of the world and needed to mark it off the list.

Currently working on the wife to allow a little photo shoot time on Saturday evening. All I brought was weird and obsolete film cameras.

Well you have yourself a good time while up here in PNW. It's not exactly the best time to be here but you should still have a good time.

For sure, some EXCELLENT restaurants. Lots of good places on Commercial Drive. Dai Tung on Kingsway is good for dinner if you like Chinese food, but the Dim Sum is just average. But if you go on a Saturday night with no reservation you will wait 45 minutes to over an hour for a table.
Nicks on Commercial is good pasta, but busy as well. If you can handle a lot of heat, the Banana Leaf either on Broadway or Denman, is really good Malaysian.
If the weather isn't too crappy, take a walk on the seawall. Really not the best time of year, not that cold, just grey damp and dreary.

Well I believe the HBC was down there or another country. Certain people wouldn't play nice so they took the ball north and built a bigger and better version! LOL
