    Can't see my neighbors.
Don't want to see 'em. Country life for this dude.

  3. My neighbors are very cool, I show up with this and they stop by and ask if I need help unloading :D

Not this time, just helping a friend move it. Johns delivery.jpg

You know...reading some of these posts reminds me of an argument long ago with an ex neighbour who has since passed on. He used to get aggravated when he saw a "wreck" turn up and wasted no time telling me so, one day he suggested that I buy something newer and expensive like his, so, we had a discussion on how people like me and him were different. He had the credit to buy cars, and I had the ability to fix his car, something he'd eventually need someday, giving me the freedom to drive old cars, and him not able because of his limited knowledge of anything past the key.
After that he'd walk over with interest to see what was new. Sometimes education is a good thing.

I moved to the Tampa area this summer, and haven't seen too many around me. There is a guy that drives a T roadster from time to time, but that is about it. I've noticed a lot of deed restricted communities here, and wonder if that's the reason.
My 50 is still up north, so I really can't represent either.

I seriously doubt that most of the people on this board would welcome me, or my family there, but that would require a discussion of topics which are forbidden here.

  11. Same here. Most of these guys would have been stealing my lunch money in grade school then kicking my ass when I was nineteen...

On the other hand most of us here now have a "face for radio". I'd hate to go out to water my lawn or get my mail and have to talk to one of these apes toe to toe. (Insert sarcastic imoji here)

If you guys ever want to establish "Hambtown" count me in!

  12. I get a lot of local interest in my car. They couldn't miss it coming off a flatbed 2 years ago, it sat in the driveway for 3 months while I got my garage squared away. And they watched me work on it in the warm months until it got to be too cold out.

This year they got to see and hear it fire up in March, by July I was driving it around... legally. Everyone waves when I go by, people stop to say hi if I'm out and they're walking their dog.

I live north of town and on a 6 mile stretch and there are four purpose built garages to house car collections. Directly across the river there is a million dollar plus Porsche collection. We used to host a car show and BBQ and the most cars parked on the lawn was 50. Here's one of the infamous Zonie Motors gas powered drink blenders. After one of the shows, somebody fired up a fuel altered, ran a quarter mile, popped the chute and drove right into the waiting trailer! Cops showed up too late! DSC02726.JPG

Funny, we have two properties, the one we live in is middle class, and pretty much non-car guy friendly, the other one is mostly millionaires, we have a full-time panel beater/muscle-car resto guy directly across the street, and half a dozen serious car guys within a mile radius. One of the reasons we are moving to that property is so I can paint at home without worrying about a hassle from the city, and so I can live where theres a more active car scene. But don't tell my wife that.

I got tired of the neighbors complaining...I moved way out. Now the city sprawl is headed my way. I'm still good. No one too close, I drag home part out cars all the time. I got enough land I can lose a car or two..

I'm the only "car guy" on our 15 house cul-de-sac, and most of what I do takes place in the rearmost of our lot, where the garage/shop is. However, I have swapped out engines in my DD truck in the street in front of the house, I never make a mess, and clean everything up when I'm done. There used to be a guy with an alcohol Funny Car several streets over; he'd occasionally fire it up. Another "car guy" has moved in on the street behind us, and we share a corner/property line; I've yet to meet him. I have a friend that lives in Gold Bar, Wa, and there's a newly opened "car condo complex" in town there where you buy/lease/rent one of 20 or so very large garages arranged similar to a storage complex. Good idea, but expensive! I am Butch/56sedandelivery.

Well, I thought mine was cool with it until the Po-Po showed up a few days ago and told me I had to move my Comet as someone had sent in a complaint. Pretty good idea who, the rat bastards.

Hell, I've even covered most of the ugly stuff with primer. Screw this state! I'm moving to Idaho!

I will admit it may be a little bit of an eyesore and normally I have it under a cover but the valley sun ate it up and the neighborhood shop cat finished the rest off. That said, just come over and bitch to me about it, don't send the man in blue. Cop was super cool and he really felt bad about the citation. Dammit.

  27. One of the big shots at work bought the house across the street from me. First thing he has all the trees chopped down. The maples I could see, but he had some flowering myrtle or some other tree that was magnificent in the spring. Now his yard basically looks like ass. All weeds and torn up sidewalks for the most part.

He'd be the last to bitch about me, my place looks mint and I don't abuse anyone by working on the car too late at night or having any junk visible from the street. I've had some awful neighbors growing up and a few beauts here as well. There are maybe 4 guys on the street with old cars, all kept in garages when they're not being driven. One guy even has an old gas pump outside his garage that is lit up at night, he has a '47 or so Mopar. There is a bone stock 1959 Ford a few blocks over, one guy is restoring a Road Runner, he stops by now and then.

  28. Not H.A.M.B. friendly here. The only HAM my neighbors know is when it's served with eggs.

Finally got the rest of the shop stuff and the Deuce out of storage. So far I've seen a decent 65 mustang up the road as well as a sweet 57 Chevy gasser.
