Forgot all about last weekend. Numb nuts raced his way to the finals in trophy street tire. Only to redlight and lose. The pic of with the nova was him taking out the point leader first round. Boom!

That kid can really drive!Looking forward to seeing you guys again at the 2017 event. This time we need to hang out more.
That was my biggest regret from this year's event, even more so than breaking the car: So many good friends that I barely got to spend any time with, and some that I never saw at all...

Next year the bugs will be out of the car well in advance, and there shall be no shortage of "quality time" spent with good friends in the pits and at Sam's.

Looking forward to seeing all you guys again.:)

    Scott

Just getting the water outta this thing tonight so we don't have any more popped frost plugs...[emoji15]

Bought a mechanical oil pressure gauge to replace the stock electrical unit as well, and some copper line to replace that cheesy plastic crap the gauge comes with.
That will be one less thing to worry about.

Also going to swap out the H-pattern shifter for the inline Long shifter that came with the transmission.Im not a huge fan of the linkage that came with the H-pattern unit anyway.

I guess having all winter to think things over won't be so bad...It'll give me a chance to figure out a way to fit all these on the tail light panel once I start mowing you guys down at the track...;)[IMG]

    Looks all business there Scott.
It would be good to get rid of the oil sender. Looks like a oil down.

Just being optimistic lol. More stall, transbrake hopefully and more tuning. Would like to work on getting 60 down in 1.30's. Went 10.54 in some good air this fall.

10.54 is moving - especially in a brick the size of the Chief... I never did make another good run this summer. Had a soft 10.05 / 130 and a 1.67 60 ft at the Fall Fall Out then spent the rest of the weekend changing intake gaskets. Think we have it solved, just in time to out it away

I boxed an area around the springs to contain them better, they are still somewhat loose. I added in a junkyard rear sway bar to control body roll on accel, also helped alot in decell at the end of the track. Also added in a crossmember with a pinion snubber .

How much help was it on the 60 foot?

Helped a little I think, went 1.43. Biggest part was body was rolling over and hitting slick on rr and that is gone. Now i can throw more at it at launch with more stall and a tb without worry.

Here's a preview for the "What are you doing to get ready for Meltdown 2018" thread when it gets started. Just closed the deal on this. It's a "real" 1948 Austin without the vent windows. Very minor rust, very straight, doors and windows work great. The original box comes with it. (The box is aluminum !). The frame is solid and I may not swap it out. Already has leaf springs in the rear... I will do a straight axle swap in the front

We have my brother's bracket bash Ranger PU that's been sitting neglected for the last few years while we run vintage and his daughter's dragster. It has a roller cam 347 Windsor w 10.1 compression and decent heads that would transplant nicely. The 8.8 might even be narrow enough...

I always wanted one of these...

    This is the plan

Have you given any thought to the old one airbag on the passenger side rear to even out that launch? I forget the name but there was a company that made them for drag racing not the "air bag" suspension they have now for lowering and raising customs.

Had them in all my class racers and they work great.

So far the sway bar is working , from there an anti roll bar set up would probably be the next step. Or also go with ladder bars and floaters with the arb to take the leaf spring out of the equation.

  27. Well, if we're talking stupid, we could put that 306/Nash 5speed in there, only injected on pop, and lite them candles!.., or go completely bonkers, blown on some % ezzz.

  29. PJ&C \'67 March Meet.jpg A good soul named KingWilly here on the HAMB sent me a private message yesterday. Turns out his buddy took this pic at the 1967 March Meet in Bakersfield. Sure wish we could find this sucker! If we ever stripped down Yesterdays Child, and turned it into a clone of this car (our original idea before we found all the previous owners, and history of the Child) how many would beat us senseless for it?
