Hello Chevy guys and gals, I'm pretty sure this has been asked several times, will my 1950 power-glide trans fit a 1954-62 235 cid engine?
'49 to '54 = 1 bell housing bolt pattern. '55 to '62 = another bell housing bolt pattern. What SPECIFIC year is your 235 engine ?
It is a 1950 235 (babbit pounder)as in the profile pic, and the one I wish to replace it with is a 1954 full oil pressure design with larger valves and alittle more HP than the stock 95 HP than I'm running right now
Be sure to use the correct starter for whichever flywheel you use (early 'wheel=early starter, late 'wheel= late starter), as the number of teeth changed.
You asked about a P.G. compatibility, I read it wrong and answered to a "stick shift" question. Sorry for my mix up.

Bob, you'll probably need to drill the timing cover for the '50 front mounts or go with the '52 - '54 side mounts many prefer ... they bolt in and give better stability to that brute horsepower.
