Saw a gauge cluster from a '50 Ford as was thinking of swapping my stock(broken) gauge for this one to keep a classic look in the truck. Been looking at replacements but not sure if I want to give up the classic look. Does anyone see a complication in this swap? Any advice is appreciated, thanks!

    '50 was 6 volt.
When was the change over to 12 volt?

Didn't even consider that. Time to do some more research. Thank you

Ford changed to 12V in 1956, although some gauges may have still been 6V

That and how do you plan to mount it into the dash? Changing the whole cluster? customizing the dash?

Should be able to just use some voltage reducers and use the '50 gauges

Ford truck gauges had 6V internals for decades after the 12V changeover. The whole gauge cluster was fed with a voltage reducer.

  9. The gauges are basically the same in both clusters except for the faces and the mounting plate on the back. I have a '50 cluster in my COE with '63 F100 gauges in it. Use an IVR to cut the voltage.
You will likely have to modify the dash panel to fit the '50 cluster though
