  1. Bruce, I think I have you an antenna on it's way to me like your granddad had on his roadster. We will just have to wait and see when I get it, but from the photo I got on it I think it is the correct one. Score one for the old guy.....

  5. Great score and they are a great tool. I looked everywhere for one when I was junking for hubs for the 3 window. Some hubs don't want to be removed with out one of them.

  6. image.jpg Got my spare trans back yesterday from my trans expert. Now I'm ready to go racing. I also have a spare rear end but it has 354 gears. The one in the car is 387s and I have a 411 gear set now too. Just got to find what I like best with the 25 tooth zephyr trans. Or I go back to the ford gear set.

  7. I also talked to my grandpa yesterday. He said he went down to Blair speed shop and was disappointed. He says it's nothing like when he was a kid hanging out there. It's only 65+ years ago. Lol I told him about early ford store in san dimas. He looked it up and went down there. He said he talked with all the guys for an hour or so. Was really happy to see all the time pieces. Says he has coffee with a friend one a month 4 doors down and never knew it was a hotrod shop. I'm picking him up on sat. At his house then off to early ford store for a few thing I need. From there we are heading out to el mirage. Come by and say hello if you go to el mirage.

  9. Hey Kevin I can pick you up on the way down if you want to ride with us out there. Grandpas mind is coming back with this hypersonic history. You might want to hear all the things we will be talking about inside the truck. Help me remember what all we talk about. He wants me at his house around 7:45am. Let me know

  10. Wish I was in town . . . I'd make you take a VAN and we could all ride together! LOL

  11. You guys make me nervous when you talk about "the parts you'll never use" being in your wife's closet . . . sounds like it could be a painful deal to me. LOL

  15. DAM! you guys make me wish I owned a air plane. May-be I can use Trumps now as he will not need it as he will have airforce one. Then I could fly out every weekend....well as long as Trump would spring for the gas $$$.
Have a great time this weekend and send photos as I will be waiting to see them. Bruce you and granddad will be on my mind this week end.......How is the roadster coming?

  16. Roadster is almost ready for a drive Dennis. Just have to finish up all the go back overs and make sure everything is right. Gonna bleed the brakes here in about couple of hours just putting all the fine touches on the steering colume. If she steers stops and goes, then we test her out. Sticks crossed...

Hey, Dennis. I think those West coast boys are "hoarding" all the super neat, really hard to find tools. Every time we turn around, one of those two has "found" some super rare tool at a swap meet or flea market. LOL. Seriously, they are some lucky dudes. Some stuff they have come up with I have never even seen. We better keep an eye on both of them. LOL Gary

Very clean unique setup, Bruce. Bet we start seeing this method used more and more. Good thinking, AND all FoMoCo parts.

  26. image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg Well sorry everyone but the roadster did not make it to el mirage. Still got some final work to do. Me and grandpa did make it and had a blast. We talked to some great people and made some friends. We met up with Jim miller the scta historian and he is going to investigate grandpas dry lake days in his pictures and he has every program for the 30s-50s so he is going to email me copy's of everyone grandpa is in. We watched bobby green from oilers car club and TROG and his buddy max from h&h flatheads break a world record in their vintage oval track sprint car with a 4 banger. Record was 110 and bobby pusher her to a new record of 124mph. It was awesome. We watched the car as it was impounded to check out the motor. It all passed and a new record was set. Grandpa was thrilled. After the meet we drove back to Pasadena the exact way he used to in 1948. He said he hasent been on that road in over 65 years so he had some flashbacks. He had great stories to tell. I could write a book on all we talked about. After we got back to his house he had me take home some tools and a box that he had as a kid. Probly what he had in the car when he went racing.

  27. Some things you just can't buy anymore. Still have a lot of things to go through in his garage but he found his old stilco oil filter wrench and new o ring seals. Found his piston ring groove cleaner tools and a carbon scraping tool. And some old gauges and car clocks from the 20s. His dad was a Lincoln mechanic in Pasadena on Colorado blvd. from 26-50s. So lots more tools and boxes with goodies I just didn't have enough time to go digging had to get back home. image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg

  28. He wants to drive the roadster the hole trip of Route 66. Planning that for April-May. Who wants to go with their hotrods.....
