I will for sure kind of bad at taking pics why I am working I will go take some Tomorrow Basically in a nut she'll I shortened the torque tube 3 3/4 using some heavy channel to keep it true. Then built a pirch off of the old cross member to slide it forward. I would like to cut the frame and shorten it one day. But that's down the road I was afraid it would snow ball if I did that. I can honestly say it was the hardest decision I have made on a car I have built. Hell I stared at it for a year saying should I. But in the end I just think it looks better.

I like your honesty and can totally see both sides of the fence on it that's why it took me so long to do it.

It looks better. The side profile looks right now as the tops of the tires don't stick out past the curve of the trunk.

Did you ever figure out if it is on a 34 frame? I don't remember.

O ya that was the first thing I looked at when brought the car home its a 33 chassis. I love the swoop in the front! It give it a different look

And it drops the front a couple of inches over a 32 frame.

And it gives the 32 purists fits which is also pretty awesome!

Sorry I have been slacking. Well the first time I got It buttoned up it was two days before taking it to the hot rod hill climb. Sadly at about 1 A.M. two days before I got on it a little hard and snapped the drive shaft. Do to the fact I had a big group report due that week in school I couldn't fix it. But I did fix it the following week. I was hoping to take it to TROG but I didn't get in which was fine since I am not sure I had the coin for the gas to get it out there. So for the last few months I have been cruising around town. I have still yet to take it to a car show they generally aren't my thing but I am sure I will take it to one in the spring. There is something I like more about cruising around to buddies shops. Here's a few pics.

Sorry shitty service right now took forever to load. And apperantly this is all I have taken since then lol. Still a lot of work to do in order to get it right where I want it. Since then I dropped the firewall Down and trued up the body it was a little out of wack. I still need to finish dialing in the top and making it tight but it's getting closer. Going to tig in some panels where the rust has gotten to it. And I get out of school in 3 weeks then I will be doing my driveline lake headers and carpet. After that I will be putting on my edmunds heads and harmonsand Collins dual coil distributor. IMG_1043.JPG IMG_1807.JPG

Now I know! I will make sure to say hi when I see you again. My head was spinning as it was my first Hill Climb. So much to see and do. I met a few HAMBers mostly banger guys. Are you planning on going to the Dirt Drags in Monte Vista?

I am planning on going. I am in Cheyenne so its not too far to travel. I have a buddy that has been helping Mike and hos crew at both events and he really wants me to hit the dirt drags this year. Couldn't make it last year as my car wasn't finished. I barely made the Hill Climb in September.

  23. Still love that badass car. What's up with the other half a hotrod in the garage. What's the plans on that one. It's hard to tell with invisible motor and front end. Looks like it's sitting nice and low though.

Lol thanks man! Did you have your car at TROG it was so damn rainy I probably didn't get to see it. The other Pyle is a 34 Chevy on a 32 ford frame I have a hemi just awaiting but the 32 needs to get finished then my wife's 53 Chevy coupe. It's down on the list lol

  26. No car didn't make it to trog but grandpa came up for the races and we broke in the cam and did some carb tuning and he was tickled pink. He loved the cars at trog and I just took him to the last el mirage run of the year. So he lives 5 min. From pomona so the car will be there for the grand national roadster show in jan. It's gonna be cool with grandpa riding shotgun. I think he's looking for a 3w. He's thinking like he was back in 47. Wants one to tinker on as he says. He's only 86 so I say tinker on. Too bad we didn't hook up at trog. Next time hopefully we can get pictures of the roadster next to each other since they are so badass....

Hell ya man that make me happy to hear glad the build is going well for you!! And that your grandpa is alive and kicking! I found out two weeks ago my grandpa is terminal with cancer been hard. When I showed up he had his hot rod 32 roadster shirt on and that's all he wanted to talk about lol. Cherish your time with him and maybe write down all those great stories!

Vern and elmer. Even back then birdog, real men had badass names. Just think we got pictures, and stories of our grandpas, "when men were men" with their badass hotrods back when hotrods were illegal. Hoodlums as they say. I guess that outlaw blood lives on and everyday we must make them proud. My heart and prayers go out to you and gramps mr. V Johnson. Keep that roadster over for him to relax in and cruze the streets as that will keep him in his youth. Here's a picture of my gramps when he first got his roadster after he traded his 3w to join the Pasadena roadster club in 1947. He's the one in the middle smokin a stoggie. We are blessed to have badass grandpas bird. Take care bro.

Well it's been a little while and a lot has happened since I was last on here. We lost my grandpa the first of January it was hard to let him go but it was time. The last thing he said to me was did you get your roadster running better? He could barely talk and that's what he wanted to talk about. So I let him listen to it on my phone and he cracked a smile and squeezed my hand. He passed later that night. With all that said I did score a seeet flathead a guy was selling because he wanted an LS I feel like I saved the motor from the car. If anybody knows details on the car or motor please let me know. Here is a couple shots.
