  1. BigDogss. I was just asking for advice when I st got my 56 buick wagon and got slammed by you know who. A lot of the people here on the H.A.M.B. helped me with the problems that I had with that wagon and like you said for free!!!!!. So I agree with you. I try to help people when I can too Thanks. Bruce.

Lebowski, re your linked story about the kid, cancer and a Fiero, you were right, the tears did flow and I'm not ashamed to admit it. I am 79 and GA is almost 3K miles from Dago, so I can't do much physically on this help for Hiway Man.
But if someone will PM me about how to donate to a go fund me on this, I'll sure cotnibute a bit from my pension and Soc Sec to help out.
I sorta doubt Ryan himself ordered the other thread deleted, because a few days ago on that thread I commented that Old Wolf had "shit in his mess kit", and Ryan answered, and to paraphrase him it was something to the effect that he did that almost as a habit. My suspicions are that some eager beaver moderator who thinks that all should be sweetness and light here in our little world on HAMB did the deed.

THANKS Dave for your thoughts and offer to donate! I have encouraged Hiwayman to think about a Go Fund Me page, so HAMBers and us locals can pitch in. The ball is in his court, and I'm NOT going to start anything without his OK out of RESPECT... My GF is a pretty good teckkie, can help him set it up WHEN he is ready... So, best we can do for now is keep bumpin' this thread up! I'm pretty STOKED my call-out for a motor has had so many comments and views, and want to THANK everybody AGAIN for that! :)

    Thank you Bruce :)

Brent Foster, then a photog for the LA Times, did this story about us in 2008 --

Some "history" here Beulah was *killed* at the exact spot shown @ 1:58 to 2:06 in this video -- @ 2:00pm in the afternoon August 10 2011

    http://www.sandiegoreader.com/weblo...an-diego-highwaymans-rig-totaled-in-accident/

Then, in 2014, he came ALL the WAY from CANADA to do THIS --

I'm HONORED to be remembered by such GOOD people.

Hey Thomas - I just read the article in the link you added to post #67 about your accident in 2011 and I also read a lot of the comments below it. It seems like several people dispute your side of the story and say that you rear-ended a car which was pushed forward into a second car which was pushed forward into the third car and two of the cars had to be towed and both drivers were taken to the hospital by ambulance. Are you saying that one of those cars rear-ended you which severed your brake line and then that car pulled in front of you and then you rear-ended it? How could a small to midsize import cause enough damage to a big, heavy '55 Mercury station wagon to sever the brake line? And then it drove around you and pulled in front of you and you then rear-ended it because you didn't have any brakes? Please explain that to me like I'm a 6 year old. (Denzel Washington's character said that in "Philadelphia".) Can you please post a pic of the damage to the rear of your vehicle caused by the "tremendous whump" when you were hit? I'm not doubting your word but am just trying to get a better understanding of what happened. Thanks....

I just read the link and the comments and he didn't say he was rearended...but I see the confusion.
He is saying that the car passed him on the right and pulled directly in front of him when he glanced left.
Then it got rearended when it immeadiately braked hard. It was this front impact that popped the line.
The word "struck' used in that location does confuse the issue a bit. Should have just left it out entirely.

    Highwayman himself....
My "WITNESS" statement IS -- that the first car struck passed me on my right, then unexpectedly changed lanes suddenly into my lane directly in front of me and braked hard at the exact moment I glanced to my left, THIS was the first WHUMP -- this impact sheared my brake line to my master cylinder [ discovered upon investigation after ] disabling my brakes, which is why I couldn't avoid hitting the second car -- I was NOT in a hurry, I was NOT speeding, I was moving "with the flow of traffic" I was NOT "texting on my cellphone" nor doing ANYTHING with my cellphone -- I WAS payin close attention as this is one of THE most dangerous traffic locations in all of San Diego.

If he wasn't rear-ended then what exactly sheared his brake line? How can rear-ending a dinky little Honda shear the brake line on a big, heavy '55 Mercury station wagon? And how can he rear-end someone and then say it wasn't his fault because he didn't have any brakes? I still don't get it....

Lebowski, I wasn't there and neither were you.
But I will say that an****hole who passes you on left or right, then cuts in front of you and jams on the brakes deserves to get hit so hard it drives his****hole up around his nose! And it does happen sometimes, but unfortunately the laws don't see it thay way:oops:

What does all the above regarding incidents from 5 years ago have to do with the man needing a y-block? Get off the man's**** and get to helpin' or get the***** out of the way! Jumpin' Jiminy Cricket in a Rowboat! Focus on the thread, not your personal agendas! :)

Thomas is the one who posted a link to his accident and the comments below it-not me-so ask him why he posted it, OK? I was simply trying to figure out how he could rear-end someone and then tell them that they severed his brake line before he hit them. What he says is very confusing and doesn't make any sense....

My apologies to you Lebowski....if you were offended....my post is rhetorical...the guy needs some help. The thread is about helping him get/find/something a y-block. I'm just looking in and seeing people going off topic and I don't want this thread closed down before there is possibly a go-fund-me account set up or some other method so I can pay it forward a little bit. There are some real****-clowns out there getting in the way of good people is all. I'm going back to rust removal now!

What he said in post #69 makes perfect sense to meo_O And I agree with RMONTY, if you can't or won't help out in this effort to help Thomas, then get off the thread before you cause it to be deleted also:mad:

Why would Thomas post a link to the article on his accident if he didn't want us to read it and comment on it? If someone is going to start a GoFundMe account for him then stop talking about it and get it started....

Why do you feel the need to stir***** up? If you want to help, then help!.....The thread is "Highway man needs a y-block" not "Lets question the reason something happened 5 years ago!"...good grief man! No one says you have to help....but be a stand up guy and leave the thread alone...some of us really do want to help!

I'll add this....if you feel the need to question Thomas about an incident that happened 5 years ago, regardless of whether or not he posted this or that, be a stand up guy and send him a PM. You as well as everyone else already know that the other thread got shut down. This thread is about helping a guy that a LOT of people want to help......please just be the grownup here and stay focused on the guy's needs. Enough said....

YES, we DO have a core secured THANKS to 'crminal' !!! :) NOW, the deal is between Y-blockman and Thomas, as for a timeline. Thomas IS open for a Go Fund Me page, just NOT right now! WHEN he is READY, we'll git it set-up, and start another thread here, maybe put the word out to local media... just NOT a dang minute before he gives us a nod to do so. Untill then troops... PARADE REST!!! :)

I'm not stirring anything up. I simply asked a question about the link that he posted. How about if you grow up and don't get your******** in a wad like a 10 year old girl?

Sorry, I don't see what is so hard to understand here wrecked.jpg -- I WASN'T "rearended" I HIT the car that did the "swoop & squat" in front of me suddenly. -- that impact, crumpled my LF fender *just so* that it snapped the brake line off the master cylinder -- everything else happened from that -- do you *see* the snapped line? this pic was taken AFter cutting aWAY the crumpled fender metal -- the back end of the Acura [ the "exPENSIVE one" as Debra Landry put it on the phone that night o_O ] was IN the AIR because of her "swoop & squat" manuver and *my* front end [ bumper ] was hardly touched, initially, by *that* impact I'm VERY disappointed it never went to court! That's about all I have to say --

You seem to have quite a few facts kind mixed up pardner,

    I was NOT "rearended"
and it *wasn't my Mercury, but my Ford "Beulah" that was destroyed -- *please* read CAREfully before you comment pardner it's important

The car that DID the "swoop & squat" driven by the woman, who's *son* [ who WAS NOT THERE, but lied and commented as though he was -- calling himself a "witness" and lied about the circumstances ] then had enuf room to move to the right side of the road further down the road
    wrecked 003.jpg
before Beulah struck the second car due to the brake line snapping ---- WAS the *cause* of this whole fiasco and Beulah's destruction ] --- note also the dates of the postings -- I waited a LONNG time because I was expecting - hoping it would GO to court where evidence could be presented -- didn't happen --:mad::(o_O

  28. Ok so he did not get rear ended? Yet He rear ended someone else? and that impact severed the Brake line? And since it had the original 1950,s brakes he was then without brakes ? Just possibly before he goes out to playon that danderous stretch of highway . Maybe he should upgrade to a dual master cyl and front disk brakes?
