Running, 85k original miles last year 1964 292 , for sale in Wisconsin

Sent from my RS988 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app

  3. If anyone wants to use PayPal and can't on the "go fund me" you can send it to me and I will pass it on to Thomas. Just send a donation to wtim411@aol.com as a GIFT (no fees that way) and add a note that it is for the Highwayman and I will take cash to him when I take the engine down. The engine is already covered so anything else is for his operating cost.
    Thank you.
p.s. anyone making a donation over $50 through PayPal to Hanford Auto Supply can also, if they like, receive a Y-Block Girl Calendar. ;)

Thanks for posting pictures of engine build.

  5. Today we work on Thomas' heads. First off cut the guides down for positive seals and clearance for extra lift on the cam.

Next we cut out the old exhaust seats so we can install hard steel seats to last longer with the dry unleaded fuel of today. Just the exhaust, the intakes work fine as cast iron.

Last we cut the seats. All three angles at once on this Serdi "live pilot" seat and guide machine.

Cut a fresh surface to seal the head gasket better.

Heads are ready to go together now but will have to wait as I didn't receive all the parts needed to assemble. Monday hopefully.

In the mean time I buttoned up the bottom end with a fresh rebuilt "gearotor" type pump (moves more oil than the "spur gear" type and no cavitation at high rpm) Finish up with a Ford Red paint job.

Done for the day, time to head home and get ready for the "Eagle field Christmas Party".
    See ya later. :)

  17. Wow! That's what would be called the one stop machine shop. Everything needed in house. Very nice work to be sure. Most generous gift of time and equipment. I'm more than impressed.

But my GREATEST honor to date has been to be remembered by a littl girl, Whitney, who drew this for me, and her family sent it to me from San Jose, after they'd made it home safely from our chance encounter on the sunset end of the I-8 freeway, where they'd become stranded, 4th of July weekend 2004 -- loooong story and my FAVORITE "thank you " of all I've received in my 50 years of "Playin ON the Freeway" :) annnnd LOOK where she put Shela! ;) :)

    and NOW --- THIS!

To have this talented and capable man wish to do THIS for *me* brings me to tears  but of JOY!

My heartfelt THANKS to Tim McMaster AND Tim Beall AND to ALL who've made this possible! GOOD ONya!

  19. I have already received $135 from guys through PayPal and checks sent. I will take this extra cash down with the engine to help with whatever is needed for the install when it happens. Thank you Larry, Ken, Dave and Keith.

  20. Threads like this rekindle the idea that "we do care for one another" ....... in spite of what we see on the dreaded news.
I'm so proud to see this happen. :)

You're quite welcome. Thanks again for all you're doing. Do you think that with a little luck you can do the complete engine swap in one day? Good luck and have a great Christmas.............Dave

It will be up to Thomas WHEN we we do the swap... this is his busy season for selling snow chains, and teaching folks how to install them properly. A HS auto shop class was suggested, but I just don't feel like this is somthing that should be a 'class project' - just way too many areas for errors that may not be caught in time. BEST to let Thomas direct the sugery... me and another intern will handle the heavy lifting. NOT by far his first swap in this rig, so we'll work to his order of tasks!

Hopefully, Tim will have the time to break the cam and lifters in on his run-in stand, before he heads south... :)

Shouldn't there at least be a few pages where we all argue what oil to use?

NOPE... whatever TIM calls for goes... PERIOD! My opinon doesn't count here, so I'll have to go back to that oil thread to add my .02 sometime... ;)

  29. I would like to be able to do the run-in but there may not be time, still waiting on important parts to finish the heads. Maybe today.
I will fill the engine with oil and my favorite "break-in" additive then prim it, I'm sure Thomas will know how to run it in.

I could have just hit "like", but that's some funny shit right there.
Count me in for the install! Gonna be in the area for big 3, but anytime works.
