Yes, but the bottom side is where the action is. I don't have enough hood clearance for the whole shitaree, so I just bought the shear plate itself, laid a open plenum holly gasket on the bottom of the shear plate, tapped around it with a small hammer, cut the gasket on the line, then blued the carb mounting face on the intake, flipped the gasket over, and scribed the mounting face on the modified gasket, and rolled the carb mounting flange back with a grinder to match the gasket.

So is the bottom of the shear plate super secret or is it just a 4 hole spacer?

Go into the "online store" on the Reher-Morrison website and you can see the bottom side. That's where the action is. I would use these where you have a booster signal issue, which will usually be indicated by a drop in torque with a corresponding drop in BSFC. In other words, the torque is dropping because the engine isn't pulling enough fuel through the booster. If you see a drop in torque with a RISE in BSFC numbers, then it's usually going to be combustion related, but if the BSFC drops along with the loss of torque, then I would look for a booster signal issue, usually related to something in the intake, or the intake closing point being REALLY out of whack. But I have seen the loss of torque, in conjunction with a dropping BSFC in a number of clevelands, with different cam timing, so I think it's an intake design issue. I think I know what it is specifically, but I am staying mum on that.

As an aside, but totally funny, every time I type BSFC, my daughters iPad changes it to "Barcelona", and I have to re-type it! Man, this world is sure getting dumbed down!

Hell no!:p Check in the online store, and you can see the underside. No, it is definately NOT a 4 hole spacer!

Wonder if my buddy with the 3D printer can pull this off.

The Reher-Morrison open spacer that comes with it will match up with the line around the edge. If you don't have the hood clearance for the whole package, you want to do what I outlined above in post#305. Ideally, you want to blend the cut at least 1/2" down into the plenum, and use the customary 1/2" minimum radius at the bottom of the cut.

    Got it.
Makes me think about my opened up 881.
But the big plan is to cut one up and make it single plane and move the carbs more inline with the ports.
And that will give me the ability to run 4150 carbs.
I have seen this done and believe I can pull it off.

  17. Is the 2 port converted to electronic?

  18. looks to me like it is - see the throttle position sensor on what looks like a metering valve? Plus the injector hoses don't run to the metering valve...

  19. Thats what I see as well. I would like to here some real world results good or bad of running a 2 port electronic on the 471. I may go that rout in the future, they are pricey though.

  23. That is really disgusting. Nothing Studebaker about it - an LS motor with fake injectors and a poor old Magneto that has been cannibalized and mounted to that plate

If someone is running a BB Chevy and is considering EFI, we (Accufab, Inc.) offer a complete EFI intake manifold system, which includes an Edelbrock Tunnel Ram, a custom aluminum top plate, billet fuel rails, a pair of Accufab 6500 series Throttle Bodies (4500 Dominator bolt pattern) and attaching bolts. The Throttle Bodies each flow 2,656 cfm and have progressive linkage. Surprisingly enough, even with a total of 5,312 cfm, we have customers that confine all their driving to street use (that's the neat thing about EFI). The entire package is $2,620. Add your own fuel injectors and you have a complete EFI induction system...
