Anyone know of 302 Jimmy hop-ups i.e. intakes, cam grinds, headers, tranny fitment etc..? I came across a "SWEET" running '59 302 gmc six this afternoon & thought I'd research it before I put my money down. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Mike
There are as many ways to hop up a 302 GMC as a SBC. Don Ferguson went better than 300 at Speedweek this year with a 302. Check out Inliners International for lots of GMC stuff.
Great engine and there is quite a few parts laying around for them. I run one in my HA/GR dragster and another one in my 29 Model A. I just decided one day i couldnt have "another " small block chevy in my life..
Man that will be loud!! I did that one my first engine and drove it to the Hundred in Chicago......never again... huh ????
In the world of 270 - 302 GMC's you see one, you buy it. They are not as plentiful as flat motors. Speed equipment is controlled by your wallet and GMC speed parts are not SBC speed parts. Heads? Fergusons Intakes and exhausts Clifford might have Buffalo for parts including a 302 to Chevy transmission adaptor (we have one for the Circus) Rich Fox (see above) has run and built many a 302. They are cool and different and powerful.
Hi. Those are great engines. When I was engine shopping for a replacement for my 46 Coupe 3 years ago I would have jumped all over a 302 if I could have found one then. Instead I ended up with a great modified 235 & it is a great street & Hwy driver. Jimmie
There was a Jimmy Six'er for sale in Huntington Beach, CA: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/gmc-6-cylinder-302-for-sale.1043690/ I'll bet it is still for sale.
