  1. Yes. He raced this car from 1955-to59. 390 caddy bored and stroked to 415. 02-george-1934-ford-coupe-caddy-ohv.jpg 04-gmc-supercharger-1959-detroit-nationals.jpg

  2. This is another shot of Tommy in the car. I recently sent this picture to Tommy (he's a freind) and here was his comments "This photo indicates that the car still had the TorqueFlight transmission in it, and it was still 94 1/2" wheelbase. Once we put a Lenco 3 speed in it and moved the front axle out 3 inches to 97 1/2, we were able to achieve 170.45 mile per hour, and a 7.97 second elapsed time in the quarter mile. An E Ticket Ride For Sure!!!"

The last time I was at Mike Cooks home you will be glad to know the 37 was their next to the house Doug lived in. If you think about what Mike was offered for the last SWC Willys you imagine what it would take to buy his Fathers 37'. I have my fathers 1939 Indian motorcycle he bought in 1943 which I have restored and when asked if its for sale, I say " if your name isn't Buffet or Gates, you don't have enough money."

My 37' was lost for 25 years and just setting 15 miles away, you just never know when they will turn up or where
I'am glad to see it get restored and saved but the downside it is in a private collection and does not get seen by anyone but the owner and that's pretty sad

Arlington WA. stuff. Arlington airport is about ten miles as the crow fly's from my house. Still operates as an airport, drag racing has been gone for a long time. It would be a dream come true to race there, even a couple three times a year would be alright with me. Chevy coupe guy lives minutes away, really a neat old guy. Vette may be a gasser or M\SP? I vote for gasser that's why it's included. Happy New Year everyone.

Johnny, I have never found where the Vette you posted ever ran in gas. I believe it is a 59 that was owned by Art and Carol Yenter out of Oregon that ran for awhile in MSP. I have a picture of it in BM/SP without anything sticking through the hood. I have read that they put a big Chrysler in it and ran fuel in 66 and ran with some early "funny cars". In 67 I believe they built a dedicated funny car (Mustang) and the Vette was probably sold. After 68 it may have run in the gas classes-who knows, but I believe the picture above is 66 (possibly 67). I was on the other side of the country at that time and never saw it run. Every once in awhile someone will give credit to Carol for driving an early funny car-but whatever she was allegedly a pretty talented driver.

Thanks for the input Jim. As I said I thought it may be an M\SP car but I thought the picture was cool enough to post, [repeat of course]. Hopefully Gary wont mind the not a gasser part! Would love to think that car is collecting dust somewhere in as raced condition, probably not. Here's a few more Northwest cars. Happy New Year all.

The infamous indoor drags. Shut down was LITERALLY "out the back door". Can't remember where these were, Detroit? Chicago? Someone here should know about this.
