Three tame, but still very kool, cars. The Merc and lilac colored Ford were shot at the Hunnert Heads Up at Great Lakes Dragaway in 2011. The Maroon '50 was at Oswego (Illinois) Drag Fest in 2006. I'm digging the Merc because of the lack of skirts.

Very much liking that Merc, saving that pic for inspiration. Has just the right amount of trim on it. Not cluttered but not blobby either. And I know others will disagree but I really like '51 quarters but 49-50 rear window.

  3. That Merc looks tough without skirts!

  4. Not at all a fan of the forward rake. Just looks wrong on that style Merc IMO.

This is the Caddy that I got my idea to do the same tail light treatment on my Merc. Years ago I only saw a small picture of it I think in American Rodder. Kool to see again.

  7. That's a good looking Caddy, but it is kinda weird seeing "your" tail lights on another car....even though they are "his" first. LOL

I didn't like the Caddy at first because of the drastic change with the taillights. Once I got over the shock and studied the change I loved it. Kool when guys are brave enough to try something new.

  10. I like that Cadillac but prefer the treatment as applied to your car.

The rear of the Cadillac looks considerably like a Lincoln Mark II.

Everyone here knows Larry Ernst' Barris-built Chevy, but a few may not remember his '52 Ford (pictured above), which may well be the first chopped fifties custom with a working convertible top.
With tons of great cars to their credit, it is surprising that the Clarkaiser shop is not more well known.
Thankfully, some examples do still exist, including this one. Dig that gold piping between the pleats!
