I agree, all of the colors on this car have so much warmth to them, the blue of normal chrome would have been too stark of a contrast. Its a little harder to keep clean and polished, but well worth it. And Advanced plating killed it.

 

Outstanding Build!! The dash really floats my boat. Great work as always guys.

 

Speaking of nickel plating... we had a couple things done...


It really turned out great, we had these backing plates modified by @Bass and they are beautiful, wish they were able to keep the stamping on them but to get them to level out this good there was no way.. only issue is they are almost to nice, people might think they are those SoCal disc brakes.

Who did you plating work? I've always loved nickel plating . . . that soft sort of goldish hue is what really sets it off - especially with a paint color like yours. Nice ride and good luck!

Once Cato got his templates all made we took the car back to start the assembly here at the shop while he wrapped parts at his shop.
We are making the best of what we have at this point, parts still dribbling in. Its going to be tight but I have had worse deadlines.

Bolting some more stuff together:


We don't have much of a budget to be attempting something at this level so instead of complicated one of machined parts we opted for refinishing cool original parts. And doing what little tricks we can.

For instance, the distributor was pretty much the only billet thing we had on the car and it stood out like crazy, In a perfect world I like to put an old restored Mallory in it but this is what we have. So we rounded some edges and did a soft media blast.



And some of our hardware is boring and so instead of plating everything we took some stainless fasteners and turned a dish into the head, sanded and polished them.. it doesn't photo as good as it looks in person but you get the idea.

 

Can you tell us where the diamond rubber came from? I'm looking for some for my current project.

 

Best use of a billet piece ever... but i personally like what purple degreaser does to alluminum after a couple minutes.

WHEELS,? are they rockets? if not what kind, also the caps? Best of Luck!!!

 

I believe I read they were 16 and 18 inch Rockets. I'd like to use them, with the Indy tires all around. They aren't making them in the smaller sizes, so I'm not sure on the front.

I love the custom fasteners. It's the little things that make a show winner.

Boy, that guy is ugly..

Before anyone asks.. I had my shirt over my beard because sweat was dripping off onto the bare metal I had just scotch-brited..

I've enjoyed working with the fellas on this car and look forward to my first-ever trip out to California. The roadster is coming together beautifully and I'm lucky to get to drool over it on a daily basis.

Love a three pedal car.... Only thing I'd change would be a column shift and an overdrive. Steering column shift linkage is messy but you guys could have made it work..

 

It's a Hot Rod, shifter should be on the floor. Well done roadster!

 

That car makes me wish I was headed to GNRS this year.
