Hot Rods If you could pick a car that epitomizes the word "Hot Rod" what one car fits that bill?

For me it's the Mooneyham Sharp 554 car. This car just does it for me. This is the standard for what a hot rod looks like. Perfect.

The term 'hot rod' is as dated as the 'described subject' should be, at least to the great unwashed, as Morty used to say...
Most 'informed' might picture an 'A-V8', or a '29 highboy, exposed flathead or hopped up 'Banger'.

A pretty young lady (friend of my daughters') wanted to see my 'hot rod'. I escorted her out to the shop, she looked at my '27 T Touring, and asked "Where's the '55 Chevy?"
I was 'scorched', then a little 'miffed'...so I said, "My suped-up '54 Ford ate it..."
    She was puzzled. 'Common-cored', I deduced...

I have a love for all things car related, so this could go on for hours. That's why I had to pick just one.

One of these two. The first got me interested in traditional hot rods and the HAMB, the second kept me wanting one.

    First, Scott Miller's '30 coupe:

    Then, @tudorfritz's Tudor sedan:

Bob McGee's 32 Roadster. It has race history, it was innovative, and it was a trend setter.

Root, you got it right. The car Gene built was pure hot rod. This car's performance during the summer of '63 is etched in my memory for ever. No fiberglass, tube framed wanna' be. This all steel, stock framed '34 Ford embodies the spirit of pure hot rodding.

WOW! One car that says hot rod? That is like only kind of beer to describe beer! Or one kind of chocolate to describe chocolate! I was born in 1959. My first hot rod like was T-buckets at around 6 years old. When I was around 10 '55 Chevys where the best hot rod. When I was 12-20 '66 and older Corvettes were the hot rods! ( I know, odd, don't care for 67 Corvettes) In my 20's muscle cars were my hot rods. Around 30 I discovered how cool pre-war stuff was. Both street rod and traditional. Now at 57 I couldn't pick only one car that epitomizes the word Hot Rod.

Agree with Dean, it is hard to argue with that. I am especially partial to model 40 hotrods myself.

Love to hear what everyone thinks. Here's what HAMBers were saying awhile back:
