Thanks Rik for posting the additional pictures. You don't see very many Olds kustomized.

  2. I'm right there with you. Don't know about faster, but I thought mine was cooler than '84 Mustangs and Camaros.....

Still desperately needed lowering, but I pinstriped the flames myself. Wasn't the best job, but it was the only flame job in town in '84. This pic was taken while it was still "nice" before I started tearing into it, stripping paint, shaving, and building a '64 t-bird interior in white tuck and roll. Never finished it, but still have it. One of these days.....

Lol funny that ya guys are talking about dingle-balls. Ever since I saw my first car with dingle-balls, I've wanted to have them on a car. Some day....

Dingleballs are the bomb! Definitely a 60's custom touch.

I still have mine. Should I put them back in my car (avatar). Just in the rear window. The windows are tinted.

  11. Shoot yeah, put them in! Funny, I didn't have dingle balls in the 66 Chevy 4dr I drove in HS, but a friend drove a 75-ish AMC Hornet and we put them in there.....pulled from a car in the wrecking yard when we got some parts for his. Too funny.

O K, what about the curb feelers. They rubbed on the ground more than the curbs. On second thought, I`ll leave the curb feelers off. I have a collection of bobble head dogs too. My grandparents put there`s in the front window on the dash. I have that one as well. I had a 66 Chevy Supersport the last couple months of high school. Had to get a car for going to collage, A car with Hydraulics wasn`t very practical. Put on about 100 thousand miles on the 66 before getting rid of it.

Just saw this posted on the Studebaker Driver's Club forum.

It's an April 1963 Hot Rod Magazine feature on a customized 1950 Studebaker pickup with a 1954 6-cyl engine.

This is a wild Doug Thompson Kustom. Love the taillight pods. It would be kool to cruise main behind the wheel.

As long as they are on a rake, a Merc can look kool without skirts. I agree with ya I like them with skirts better.

It's good to see how many "Likes" this received.

How about that fully built flathead 6? I strongly suspect that the intake, rather than the head, was the Edelbrock unit. (Five will get you ten the stock head was milled.) Chopped flywheels certainly were popular in the day.
It's interesting that he actually took it to strip. 92 MPH is actually quite fast (considering), but the 17 second E.T. indicates that it was babied off the line!

This Stude' PU is righteous, not over done, but it certainly represents full customization. It might have benefited from a mild chop. I have never seen a split stack. Does any one care to comment on "expanded metal grill inserts" ? They look a little like machine turned strips.

That would simply be a matter of gutting the three grille openings of their vertical bars, and filling with expanded metal mesh. Quite nice!

Here's a couple sent to me by Craig Owens, HAMB member from Santa Rosa CA, taken at a small local cruise on a chilly Nor Cal day .... I like the tail end of this Merc 31488507264_40a78b0041_z.jpg
