I wish I had taken time to take pictures. When you mill the top of the intake it opens all the chambers. I had to isolate the heat riser portions from the fuel charge runners. It was a fun learning project but most likely more work than worth. Once I start something I have to see it to the finish. Sent from my E6782 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Just ribbing you a little bit. Welcome to the HAMB. You do amazing work. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Been following your work on instagram, the air cleaners and now the intake look great. Keep it up. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
The last part of your second sentence sounds like you might be a freaking politician. Please tell us you are NOT ! LOL
Very nice work. Welcome to the H.A.M.B. I too would like some build info on both the manifold and air cleaners
My eyes were immediately drawn to the air cleaners! Very nice and a good size. Should flow a lot of air, compared to the tiny ones a lot of people use. Dave
Thank you. The manifold turned out to be so much work not sure I would suggest tackling one. The air cleaners I make myself. Sent from my E6782 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
You keep saying you make those so you better get your ass to work because now we all want some. I will take 3 of them please. Or did you only make them for you. Are they cast alum. And then you machine them. Either way that match up with your cool ass hotrod. And I think they would match up with mine too.
No. I've been selling them on my IG. I know there are alot of rules here about everything including selling stuff. Just trying to keep a low profile. Sent from my E6782 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Well if you have a bunch done and ready to sell you could always post in the classifieds here on the hamb in the parts section. Or clue us in on how to reach your ig. I'm interested either way. Even a pm could help out. Just saying they are bitchin and I see them being a great hotrod part. Made in USA.
Paintslinger (and all of HAMBdom) Graceandco (Chris) is a stand-up guy and a true hotrodder! Nobody fits the mold of HAMBer better than he does! All you have to do is look at his avatar and you can see he is a stickler for the details!! Check out his InstaGram feed (@graceandcoparts)...lots of hot rod goodness going on there, including some sweet shots of his bitchin coupe! As for selling his air cleaners, @Flat-Foot has posted these in the classifieds for Chris a month or so ago (search "Grace & Co" in the parts classifieds). They are available raw, powdercoat black or chrome, all with Grace & Co tags attached! Phenominal work and a very respectable price for handmade hotrod parts! Heck, he was INVITED to showcase his wares at the LSRU this year! (He also casts stellar dash inserts you HAVE to see in person!) Get aquainted with him....he's gonna make some killer waves around here! (Chris, you can pay me in parts! )
That intake is really nice looking with a clean appreciation....I agree, the air cleaners just add a bit of tasty 'frosting' on the top of the whole thing....I like your skills
I'd run that intake atop my new flathead in a California Minute! (er, that's a descriptive time guess at how long I'd have to wait for those air cleaners...you guys have all jumped in line.)
I am currently working on another batch of air cleaners. Anyone interested can just PM me here or my IG is graceandcoparts. I can put you on the list. My turn around is usually two weeks. Payment when I have them ready to ship. Thanks. Sent from my E6782 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Man that Intake looks awesome! And just so everyone knows, those pictures do not do the air cleaners justice! They are the nicest i think i have ever seen. Super detailed, just engine jewelry. I saw them in person for the first time last Oct at the Old North State Invitational, and immediately was pissed off at my self for not bringing more cash with me! Im dying for some, i just need to decide if im doing 2X4's or 3X2's on my 39 as to which i need to get. The pics on Instagram of the 4 barrel air cleaners he is developing look killer.
When there is no part on the market for what you want you have to DIY. I wanted to convert my 230ci Chevy straight 6 to divided port, 180 degree, 4bbl carb induction. Closest thing out there is the Clifford manifold but it is basically a plenum manifold, not what I was after. I decided to try to make a manifold myself. Here is a series of photos showing the result. It works great! I was lucky to have a local outfit that did sand casting using my patterns, they have since gone out of business. I first drew up the manifold so I had something to go by. Then I carved the manifold exterior in mahogany. I cast half the manifold in fiberglass to help make the core mods for the runners and to help in making the casting mold. Then I made plaster models of the runners by layering modeling clay into a plaster casting of the manifold wooden model then casting them in plaster of Paris. The runners are tortuous to get equal length for each. From those plaster runner models I made a series of fiberglass mold into which the core sand can be formed. I took all this to the little local foundry and they cast my manifold. That's the best photos I have of it. I since sold the car so don't have it available to take better pictures. Here is the manifold on the car. Of course I had to modify the head by brazing in flange dividers and casting in deeper dividers in the Siamese ports using liquid steel.
I was just told about this at work and I look forward to having Chris attend! I met him a few years ago at the LSRU and could tell right away he takes hot rodding seriously. Cory has a couple of his air cleaners on his Merc as well as me having 4 on my roadster. I'm torn apart on how to finish them but they're my favorite air cleaners ever. Thanks man. We are in the planning stages for next year's show. Can't wait Sent from my E6782 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Awesome!, cant wait for it either, ill have my 39 there with either 2 or 3 of your air cleaners on it!
