A rubber mat should do the trick. I've got one of the ones that has the carpet on top. I got it from a uniform company for a few bucks because it has a couple of holes cut into the corners.

Funny, I got the flu and I'm stuck at home sick as a dog. I was looking for something to watch on my 4 million cable channels and I ran across the animated movie Ratatouille. I was thinking about you while I watched it. You're very similar...if the rat was a great mechanic instead of a great chef.

Keep up the great work little chef!

I feel your pain, mostly. I have a packed tight 1 car garage to work on my car in. most of my build has been in mine driveway--roll the car out, work on it, roll it back in. Sometimes getting geared up to work and cleaning up (ie moving the shop in and out) takes longer than the job at hand! Weather takes a toll on when I can work too.
Many kudo's from me! Enjoying your build. Keep it up.

And you make our day too, I am amazed at your determination and ability to make such a beautiful custom under the conditions you are forced to work in. As has been said before, your sense of humor also make this thread extremely enjoyable to read. Good luck with the engine swap, not that you need luck, you will manage quite well with your ability and perseverance.

It has been raining for three days.....i worked between two showers:cool:

I have remove the drive shaft.
On the right Renault, left Ford. When i will know exactly where the engine and the gearbox are positioned, i will have the transmission shaft manufactured by a professional, i don't want to work on it (i do not have a sufficiently powerful welding machine and it should be balanced...)

Now I see why you managed t get the engine out without the trans, mine is a Transfluide and it's a few cm longer with a different trans member.

Well, it's raining, raining again.....but I work on it....the big problem is that the Fregate have a plane floor, and two front crossmembers and if I want to fit the gearbox in correct position....I must cut them:confused:....don't forget that the Fregate is unibody car......

This is the only way, check the Ford gearbox on the top and the Renault on the bottom....well, XL size from the original....

    I'm not a pro, it's not bad, it's strong.
I cannot realize nice parts with only a hammer and bench vice on the floor....but for me, it's enough good looking.

No heavy loads? Are we expecting a little back seat rat? Crossmember looks great, especially for what it was made with

No little back seat, I'm the kid :p. (I'm a rat, I have cat;)). Like Spiderman, I missed the target;););););););):):):):):):):)

Well, today was really a hard day. I have half cut the crossmember to try to put the gearbox on the floor.

I carried the gearbox by the hood....heavy.... 2 liters of oil on the floor, because the anti roll bar prevent me to put the gearbox on the ground.... So after clean the mess, removing the anti roll bar....I'm dead;).

The gearbox needs to be placed back and up....tomorrow, I remove the interior, and I cut the floor, and of course welding reinforcements.

Because the Fregate is park in the street, and it must be a car, not a wreck.....
