Congrats to Troy and crew for the fine work that went into the award winning car. I've got to say that chassis belongs in a museum next to the Dusenberg and Miller chassis. What a piece of art in it's own right.
WOW! I have worked on many retractable tops the engineering to do a one off must have been impressive CONGRATS to the builders and owner
http://www.hotrod.com/articles/2017...l-roadster-is1936-packard-hollywood-hot-rods/ Over 200 pictures of this beautiful Latham Supercharger....and the car attached to it (just kidding, but love the Latham)!
Gorgeous car! Awesome! Cretin what did you do to fix the V12 oiling system that was a failure from the factory? I love those engines and have wondered what the cure is for the oil pump
The article linked above has a ton of build pictures in it if you go to the photo gallery. Here is the link to the photo gallery. http://www.hotrod.com/articles/2017...onal-roadster-show-americas-most-beautiful-ro
Thanks for all the kind words about the car everyone! We are all pretty excited to be a part of such a historic award! I built the mechanism for the roof, and part of it for the rear deck. The engineering of it was a collaboration between myself, Troy, the owner, and opinions thrown in by some of the other guys in the shop. It took a bit of doing to get it all to fit and function properly. I'm just glad all the paint is still where its supposed to be after that top moving so many times over the weekend! We didn't have much test time after paint. Unfortunately, I don't have that answer for you. We didn't put the engine internals together, so I don't have the info. I'll see if I can get an answer for you though.
Love the car. Nice to see a custom win the award. @cretin do you have any picture of the mechanism that holds open the hood? I kind of got a glimpse of it in a build picture but couldn't really see it. Sent from my HTC One_M8 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Yea. I probably have too many photos. Haha! I made these pieces so if you have any other questions, let me know. Here it is in the down/hood closed position And here in the up/hood open position. And even though it doesn't look like it, there is enough room so that if you forget to put the prop in the down position before closing the hood, it will not interfere. If people are interested, I can probably put together a good amount of build photos. It'll take me a bit of time to go through my photos though.
Ok, I'll put some photos together, it'll take me a bit of time to go through everything to find stuff from the whole project, so it'll take a bit of patience. But I'll post it here once I get it done. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Wow - absolutely gorgeous. Cars built with such care and love never fail to make the think current car designers have lost the art. Will someone from Hollywood Hot Rods please take over the design department at any of the Big Three and fire everyone?
I saw it in the the early stages in 2007 during Petersen's 75 th. Deuce anniversary week. That's nearly 10 years ago. Perfection takes time.
I've followed the build over the last three years, it was always on jack stands, and on a raised stand at the GNRS. I'd like to see some photos of it on the street with people and other cars of the era around it, maybe the '36 Ford Roadster you built. Congratulations on the win, glad I got to see it last week. Bob
I won't repeat all the well deserved praise for this amazing car, but I will add.....it's not often you see an extremely well built example of a hot rod, custom, and coach built car, all rolled up into one!
I've been trying to put the build photos together as promised, but I'm having a lot of trouble with my computer. If anyone that knows macs can help me out, please let me know.
Very beautiful car, along with an outstanding Lincoln V 12, just curious why a '32-'39 Packard V 12 was not used.
If it's an issue getting them on the site maybe PM @Ryan I think he is an Apple guy and I am sure he would help if he can.
My problem is that I can't figure out how to get them off of iPhoto into Photobucket so that I can post them. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Because I thought I had to. Since the site changed, I've only posted photos through the app. So, I'll look into that when I get home. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
