Building a car with a th400 mated to a 427 BBC. I have a Hurst Auto-stick that I'd like to run, but will need a neutral safety to pass tech.....I called Hurst directly asking for a safety switch solution with no recommendation or part.

I'm sure someone has done this here.....anyone? Anyone have a solution they can offer?

you won't find one, you'll have to give me the shifter, instead.

Or you could use one of the universal type that mounts to the pan bolts, and contacts the shift lever at the transmission end of the rod.

Thanks Squirrel.....this is helpful....more helpful than hurst was...I was close to not using it because it doesn't have a reverse gate, but, this is a foot brake car I will run in Amateur comp and Nostalgia comp so, I'll just be dropping it in drive and slamming the gas pedal down...

I built a reverse gate for my home made shifter in my "race car", no problem with tech inspection. It's spring loaded, it takes two hands to get it into reverse, from neutral.

There might be less expensive neutral switches like the one I linked to, I did not search more after I found the first one.

yeah, he could. They're a bit finicky to get set up right. And it might not be able to handle the current.

Yeah, that's true. Especially on a homemade bracket!

Lokar makes a cool unit but it is not cheap. I installed it in my olds when I added a Hurst dual gate. I wanted to retain my reverse lights and neutral safety switch operations. My car is a 68 so no switches on the column. The answer was this Lokar product.

It is stashed under my center console and invisible (hide your technology). It has been installed for 6 years without issue. NOT CHEAP! But a clever product and you can even hook up LED gear indicator lights if you so desire.

The Tri-Five Chevrolet vendors sell a transmission pan rail mounted switch; the switch itself is a stock, GM,column shifter, automatic transmission switch, adapted to the linkage. Danchuk # 1345 and #1346, TH350/TH400 respectively @ $49.95 each (OLD catalog!). I have FOUR of those Hurst Auto Stick 1 shifters, and I was planning on one of those switches. They work with neutral AND park. I am Butch/56sedandelivery.
