    oops, actually didnt know I was stepping into something here until I read the other post, I still had it ready to paste from yesterday and hit it again.......I have heard the expression of screwing up a soup sandwich:D.....delete....fixed:cool:

    I cycle between original one piece American Racing D-200s and a recent version of the 2-piece polished American 5-spokes. I have sc View attachment 3456260 57 5spks.JPG uffed and painted the spokes with Rutoleum Stainless Steel spray bomb.

    I deleted the thread last night.
    I also just went back and revisited it.
    there were 24 photos that could have been deemed on topic
    there were 26 photos that were marginally on topic, ie: wheels that were not available until '64 or later
    and 36 photos of either off topic vehicles, wheels or tires (some all three)

    so far this thread seems to be headed down the same path.

    Agree. I did not see the original thread. Both of my examples are post 1964. Sorry. I do run Radir repops on my 57' Ford.

    five spokes are a tough one to fit the traditional definition
    as most were not available until the cut off date here.

    if it looks like a wheel tire combo that may have happened up until the mid sixties-
    especially on an earlier car,
    it is more likely to be well received..

    I love the 5 spoke TorqThrusts, had 'em on my '46 Coupe in '62: They were magnesium, came with instructions:
    "If these wheels are committed to street use they must me X-rayed every 60 days for cracks."
    Hoo-wah. Sam the Barber ('61 Impala) and I were the first two in San Jose to run 'em!

    My son slid me into my '63-1/2 Ford Galaxie Fastback in '94. It was equipped with a narrowed '58 Nine inch rear, American Torqthrusts all around. FE power.

    My '55 F100 has a set of 5 spoke, 2 piece Turner/Palemides wheels, predecessors to the TorqThrusts that Romeo sold the patterns for to American Racing. One of them is depicted in my avatar...
    2 bolts per spoke, 3/8" stainless; protruding 'hub' design, 7-14" cap.
    Design was drawn up by Chuck Turner (Sacramento) to compliment F100s.
    Look like a Kelsey-Hayes design, (intended) Only a few sets were cast, Romeo offered the patterns to Dick Beith, (ET Mags) who refused them. Hmmm...ever see an ET III? :rolleyes:

  17. If you do a hard '64 cut-off, there's not many alloy wheels that qualify....

    Personally, I think Torque-thrust D spokes are street rod wheels as these were introduced in mid-'64 and were designed for disc brakes on the Corvette. Not really seen 'back in the day', it was only after they were reissued were they seen in any numbers.

    My dad bought the first set of 5 spokes I had ever seen and put them on his new 1962 Galaxie,but yeah,they were close to the cut off date. HRP

    Someone mentioned International Dragmasters on the first go-round, a wheel not seen much anymore, at least not with the original center caps.
    My first car was a black 61 Impala 4 door hardtop bought in 69 at age 15.
    It came with Dragmasters on it and they had been painted black, looked pretty neat at the time as it was a black car.
    Not many first cars came with mags already installed.
    Sorry, no photos of car, all got lost many years ago.
    I did find this cool article (with photos) about them though, the over 50 guys should find it pretty entertaining.

    Since Torque Thrust D's have been declared "street rod wheels" I will not repost the pic of my RPU. Wouldn't want Danny's thread to get closed again.

    When I bought the 10.00 by 16 rears for my gasser I was one proud puppy, then a yr later I got the flat spoke fronts Don_Nowell_1938_Chevy_Gasser_super-wide_screen_wallper_website_post.jpg
