Discussion in 'Traditional Hot Rods' started by paintslinger805, Mar 13, 2016.

  1. Sorry I do not. They kinda look like a Early Harley Guide light. I have a set of 775 Arrows that came on my roadster but I have them packed away. Went with Model A since I did a pre war build.

  2. Ok thank you I will do some homework in the arrows. I would like to have what grandpa did so all and any info is always a plus.

But they are sitting with all my swap stuff at my house from the last swap meet he had to leave early from and I have permissions to sell them for him. If you think they will work for ya. Let me know. Love what you're doing with this car. 1488520595671.jpg 1488520600302.jpg

  8. image.jpg Here's what I'm still trying to figure out. When I look at the old pictures of grandpas headlights, they don't look big like 6" 40 sealed beams to me. Maybe it's just the pictures angles. One thing I do know is his headlights don't have big bulky headlight trim rings. I see from pictures that king bees have a tiny trim ring. But then I look at this picture and see that the bulbs look the same size as the license plate. I measured at lic. That I have and it's 6" wide so my mind must be playing tricks on me.

I dug threw my junk and found that I have a set of arrow 775h buckets but no trim rings of course. I'm the guy that has
    Ham no burger
    Peanut butter no jelly
    Kool aid no sugar.
    Half no other half.
    32 roadster no axel

  10. image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg Kiwi Kevin gave me a set of guides 903j
But they have big trim rings. So I will give these back to him. He donated they for the cause but if I don't use them then I will give them back to him. Give me a reason to go hang out with him at his house and get gasser fever.:)

Not to hog up your thread Bruce but I just had to brag about getting a 1944 and 45 wheat penny to put in my block. Thanks for all the inspiration.[emoji6]

  16. moto lamp 3.jpg moto lamp 1.jpg moto lamp 2.jpg Here is an Indian 38 or 39 moto lamp that has been updated with a Guide T3 sealed beam. It's dia across the lense is 7 inches and the trim ring is 5/8 inches. Later Indians were sealed beam. Early ones were painted. Just something to confuse you even more.

  17. I have looked at the photos a lot and my bet is still with the King Bees as to what he ran. Since I am 77 years old and have been into hot rods my whole life, KB's were the light everyone wanted back in the old days. We all thought they were the cats ass...

  18. Hey Dennis do you remember what the big deal was with king bees and why everyone wanted them.

I tell you this much. If you watch the Devil on Wheels from 1947. Mickey(the main character?) has a damn good 32 roadster Hypersonic clone and it has King Bees on it. Hell most(not all) of the rods in there seem to have'm.
One of my favorite lines is something like "gee wiz, look at these tire's, 6.50 rubber, they really help ya from a dig when ya need it"

  20. My guess is we seen them being used on a lot of the west coast hot rods. So all us Midwest guys wanted to follow what you guys were doing. That's my 2 cents & I am sticking to it....

  21. I wonder if they were the cheapest back then so everyone could afford them. Kinda like the bates aftermarket parts for old motorcycles. They were the cheapie brand back in the 60s but now it's the CATS MEOW;) to have bates anything on an old chopper.

  22. Well doing some more taking apart thy ol hypersonic today. Drained out the radiator and block. Looks pretty clean I think the color and small crap is from the original radiator I payed 200 for. And of course it has a leak on bottom. So I'm going to see if I can find it and silver solder it or lead solder I have to look it up again and see what's the right way for old copper. It's been at least 15 years since I fixed an old radiator. I didn't see any oil or smelt any gas in it so that's a plus. image.jpg image.jpg
