It really hasn't changed...at...all.

Well, the main drag is paved now.

I knew this things were prone to rust but these are barely off the boat.

Probably some sort of coating to protect them. But yeah, they did rot. I worked in a shop where we rebuilt a lot of British stuff. Junk. Always seemed to be the victims of the worst backyard body work.

 

Maybee Cosmoline? or something similiar as that was a Military waxy paste used to prevent rust on metals

I forgot about cosmoline but I bet if you dipped the whole car in that stuff they'd still rust.

I grew up about 15 miles from Salem, I stood in the street and watched a big lumber storage building go down that day, I was only 8 years old, will never forget it.

I was 6 months old - I remember my grandparents talking about it. They lived up off Alameda Ridge, almost had the tree in the front yard join them in the living room, they were pretty lucky. Some of the neighbors not so much.
