...just heard Chuck Berry passed today around 1:30 PM...maybe OT but he did sing about Caddies an V8 Fords. ..he was my rock n roll hero. RIP Chuck!
Aw man. That's sad news. He was certainly a pioneer and was a huge influence in the direction of rock n roll music. How many other songs were influenced by the opening guitar line to Johnny B. Goode, alone. I can think of half a dozen right off the top of my head, and that's just one song. Well, he lived a good long life. Thank you Mr. Berry, and rest in peace, you've earned it.
Wow, 90 isn't a bad innings, he passed away at home. Another music legend gone however the music lives on. NYT tribute
Cadillac Rollin' on an open road...nuthin' out runs my V8 Ford. Godspeed Mr. Berry. Your music lives on...
Damn, tell Tchakowski the news... RIP Chuck. There's not a picker alive you didn't influence, whether they know it or not.
I was around for the birth of Rock n Roll and he was one of those spanking it's fanny. His influence is incalculable. And, he performed concerts up til the end. Maybe today is really the day Rock n Roll died..
They bought a souped-up jitney, it was a cherry red '53, They drove it down New Orleans to celebrate their anniversary It was there that Pierre was married to the lovely mademoiselle "C'est la vie", say the old folks, it goes to show you never can tell
Sad, sad news. Just heard about it on my Saturday night oldies show in the car on my way home. Always one of my favorites and one of the true pioneers of rock'n'roll. Vaya con Dios, Mr. Berry.
just heard it while at my 58th class reunion.remember hearing about buddy holly when in home room, 58.
Earlier this week, I was thinking about Chuck Berry, so I went to youtube and listened to his music for a couple of hours. This past fall he completed a new album of new songs, soon to be released, entitled simply "Chuck" and dedicated to Toddy, his wife of 68 years. It was his first album in 38 years, and his last. When I was in high school, I pretty much memorized the lyrics of all his songs. and my buddies and I would sing them as we went "ridin' along in my automobile....with no particular place to go..." RIP Mr Berry. Info about the new album http://chuckberry.com/chuck-new-album-coming-in-2017/
