your link is not working like it ought to....it shows a search page with a bunch of different valve covers, and it is not an eBay page, it is some other thing.

I believe the O stamp refers to a mark put on the covers so they can be installed correctly. If put on upside down rocker clearance is an issue. Nothing special about it. Started doing it in the early 60's.

Thanks Squirrel. Does it work now? I changed it.
Wraymen: "If put on upside down rocker clearance is an issue." The covers are symetric. So there ist no difference equal how you install them.

Steffen, that is just what I heard a long time ago. They are found on both chrome and painted. The original covers had an issue on one side where it could contact the rocker arm.

the covers look symmetrical, until you actually measure them. One side is angled a bit differently than the other. This was not an issue on the original design "script" covers, because you'd have to be a real idiot to put them on upside down....and for the first few years, the top holes were closer together than the bottom holes.

If you install the tin rocker covers on upside down(?) the high lift 327 rockers will wear holes in the top side....

I think the lister of the valve covers placed the "0" in the ad to get more $$ because he thinks some dude with thinks it's perfect for a NCRS restoration. If you guys here say they all have "0" it's no big deal. I have a set of these somewhere in my garage I bought for $10 at the Long Beach Performance Swap. I also feel if the Corvettes had a different tin cover it would be pretty rare since they were only used from 62 up a few year and I can count on NO fingers how many Corvettes I ever saw with tin covers. Anyway a fun topic.....

WOW!!! They are bringing pretty good money; at least wise if they are actually being sold for some of those prices. I had a good set of the 327 "box" valve covers, not the chrome ones. There was a Canadian fella looking for a set here on the HAMB quite a few years back. I GAVE them to him for the cost of shipping; they were just in the way, and I did't think I'd ever need them. I want to say they went to Ontario, but it's been 12 years or so. I like to find a pair of the NINE fin Corvette valve covers, at a reasonable price that is. Course a pair of the PONTIAC badged valve covers would be nice too. I am Butch/56sedandelivery.

  15. Squirril is correct there is a clearance issue if they are installed upside down.

Lots of those covers were replaced when any performance options were added because they didn't have much clearance. Many were used for parts trays. We poured lead in them for ch***is weights.

  17. @squirrel here's pics of the rocker covers. I think that the O stamp refers to something that someone stamped on the gasket flange. And these covers are way over priced.

LOL I been looking for two sets for years. I want to make a set of tall covers for my small block.

The joke is that we used to throw them away or give them away. Now they are non existent. You can find script covers all day long but not 327 turbo fire covers.

Because I'm in Germany I've no possibility to check swapmeets etc. I Search ebay and sometimes there is a pair for 40-50 $. But also some offers up to 250,- $ ...
Let me know, what is a realistic price for a pair in the condition you posted the pics?

  21. I would not mind giving 40-50 dollars for a pair in good shape. I haven't seen a set at a swap in a while but they pop up from time to time. Probably a pristine set used may go as high as 100-125 around here.

For me I am going to cut them up so I cannot give mega bucks for a set.

If I find a set can I ship them as a gift and avoid the tariff?

    Sold as for Impala=$50-$100
Sold as for Corvette, 300 hp=$200-$300
    They are the same ones.
BTW, the valve covers for 67 Corvette 327/300 hp were the script style.

I still have no good idea for shipping parts. Some ebay-sellers have really cool conditions. Others do absolutles not shipp because of bad experience. I have had a nice pair of valvecovers .. but they never arrraived ..
The costed 55,- and they were perfect. Nice patina. The ones you posted are a little bit to mint. They where never mounted. No scratches around the mounting holes. If this makes them expensive I don't need it.
Well used but no trash. And I dont't need new decals. i would prefer some nice worn out decals.

You want to cut them and weld them togehter for more space for roller rockers?

  27. You never ever worry about shipping from EBay. They ship to me and I ship to you. Done deal.
Been doing it as long as I have been on the HAMB. There are a few countries that I won't ship to because I don't want to end upon the no fly list but none of them are in Europe. LOL

I've got a pair of chrome ones like these out in my garage I'll sell you for $30 plus shipping. PM me if interested and I'll look them up. They need cleaning up though. They have a little tar or silicone on them. I think you can still buy the decals for the rectangle areas, mine don't have any decals on them.
