How many of you guys do your own Hot Rod wiring?

That is a God given gift, no sketch of were stuff goes, or notes of any kind? Bob

 

I've always done my own wiring. In 1973, swapped in, with MANY deletions!, harness from donor 1960 chev wagon.
After that, fixed what I got already installed on the car with upgrades as necessary but ALWAYS made sure end product had a disconnect switch that was easily reachable from driver's seat.
Last 15 years or so I have started with two of the 6 outlet fuse panels from Advance. One is hot all the time and the other is powered from the ignition key. Haven't run out of circuits yet but I build simple cars with turn signals and emergency flashers; maybe a radio/noisemaker of some kind.
Keep card with circuits labeled for both panels in the glove box or stashed in the headliner area--- headliners are not a priority very often.
Simple works for me.

 

Al, like your the idea of the two different fuse blocks. Makes so much sense and should be simple to wire up.

I'll try to get a pic or two from the 36 Fordy. Not fancy but works. I even hinged it in the 36 Fordy so will fold down so I can SEE it and GET TO IT.

Simple is good... cheap, too!!

 

Not an A; but on my '35 both the engine and chassis harnesses are about an inch in diameter, so I would guess it would be a tight fit in a 1x2 tube; but doable.

found a pressure ignition shut off switch, this is located on back of engine block. Ordered a new one. This rather than the inertia switch may be what they were talking about.

 

I think in pictures always have. I always thought it meant that there is something wrong with me.

 

I always wait until the car is assembled before installing wiring.
My first wire job was a used fuse panel and a few rolls of wire. I remember marking each circuit with a piece of masking tape and writing what the circuit was for.
Took a long time. This was a 50 Chevy pickup streetrod with air, electric wipers, am/fm, even had a buzzer which alerted when the turn signals were in motion along with 2 ignition switches to prevent theft.
I learned a lot by doing it the hard way the first time.
Now, just give me one of those kits and I have it installed in 4-6 hrs.

I've started from scratch on a couple projects. Then used a "donor", Last 3 have been kit's. My only choice now. There's only 2 that I will use.

 

Im using a REBEL9+ for my 56 Victoria build.Im an electronics tech so a few sparks don't scare me.

 

Now you got me thinking bad things, I have just about finished wiring my 100+ year old retirement mansion.

 

That is house electricity, totally different than the car stuff, you are in a very special class if you understand both. Bob

 

Wired mine from scratch, used Rhode Island wiring for supplies. They have all the old stuff. I did use a 46 Ford wiring schematic. Matched those colors. Fused most circuits.
