I finally got to check out the engine in the donor 52 New Yorker. Worked at it for a while to get block drains back in. filled it with water and a gallon of antifreeze. Drained oil, put new oil in. Ran it for awhile, drained oil again, installed new oil filter, ran it again. No water leaks..... for awhile! Then it popped out the soft plug just above and behind the starter! Gushed all the water out of course. Oh well, engine sounds good, starts really easy. Time to pull this engine and start cleaning it up in preparation to install it in the 33. New soft plugs are in order!

I came down with a lung infection which has put me behind but I am getting better every day and should be back at stuff next week.

I did sneak out there and checked caster on the front axle. It had 5 degrees of caster, I backed it off to 3. Factory for the donor 37 Dodge axle says 1-3 degrees with 2 degrees recommended. Close enough to start with.

That is a neat looking car, hood looks like it could use a shortening but I like the similarities to a 34 Ford.

I haven't been able to do a lot on my Plymouth but I did get the Hemi pulled out of the 52 Chrysler. The Chrysler it self is up for sale if anyone is interested. Complete minus engine. Next is clean and scrape and scrape and scrape all 64 years of hardened grease and dirt gunk off the engine. Then I need to get with Gary and get the crank tapped for the flywheel bolts. I have also been working on a '27 T roadster pickup on a Model A frame. It will be for sale when I fix all the messy crap the previous owners did to it.

I haven't had time to do anything except gather a few parts for my '33 since my last post. Got busy and put together my '31 Model A Coupe instead. Late '31 w/indented firewall. Full pressure rods and mains on a '37 B Diamond block. '46-'48 hydraulic brakes, '35 Ford 16" wires, Ryan 26% overdrive, reverse eye spring on front. Just finished the second tour with it, got 500+ miles on it so far. Working pretty good.

Also Bought a '27 T bucket of sorts on a '30-'31 frame and re-did it and sold it to the fella in the picture.

And in the middle of all that took my '36 Dodge pickup to Bonneville Speed Week and as usual had a ball!

Maybe now I can get back to working on the '33 Plymouth, but I also am in the middle of re-doing a '20 Dodge Brothers Touring for my son and his family. It never ends!

Thanks, I have several Mopars plus a whole bunch of pre Mopar Dodge Brothers and a bunch of Fords too. How about an Ugly Duckling '62 Dodge Lancer 4dr. with a 340? Hoping someday it turns into a Swan!

Well, I did get a very small amount of work done on this one. Spent a while getting the Hemi cleaned up. Have a little ways to go on that even. Since I bought the '29 AV8 it has occupied most of my time. I have enough projects that I tend to work on 1 until I need to spend money, then I jump onto another one and do the same with it. I have enough car projects to last me well into my 200's!

    Nice work Anthony.

    Spring probably, Vern.

I did move it today but that was just to get it out of the way for shoveling 3 feet of ice and snow!

I'd like to know where you found that nice quarter panel. Is there a source I don't know about?

Quarter panel came with the body, so I cut the old one out and replaced it.

  15. Hi Dave! Such a nice project to follow. I really appreciate you going all Mopar. I bought myself a 331 Hemi (still resting) for my '37 Plymouth B/C but after a couple of seasons and at least 16 000 miles/year I decided to keep the flat six. Tuning step by step and an O/D on the way will make the coupe even more driveable :)

Zero, I drive a '36 Dodge pickup that I put in a '58 Dodge 230 6cyl 135hp, pulls it 60mph up hill or down, even pulling my little TrailorBoat camp trailer. I have a dual carb/dual exhaust I plan to put on it some day. Nothing wrong with them ol' flat 6's! Next step is a '62-'64 B Body rear end so I can get some taller gears.

Haven't been able to do any work on the '33 but I did acquire a set of 1954 331 Hemi heads for my 1952 engine from Desoto from here on the HAMB. Also got a '26-'27 DB Coupe from him too. Thanks Rick! It was nice to meet ya!
Weather is slowly improving around here so I hope to get back on this one soon. Headed to Portland for the swap meet day after tomorrow (Wednesday). Always looking for bits and pieces for all my projects.

Yes. I am putting it back up for sale in May. I have no idea what shipping would cost. It is 750 lbs not including the custom stand it is on or any crating materials.

  21. Keep an eye out for some 1931 DB parts for me! Wish I could have made Portland this year.

No real updates but I did order a 15" red metal flake Grant chrome spoke steering wheel and adapter for it! Made progress on the '33. Came to a halt for awhile but now that the AV8 made it to Bonneville I can get back on the Plymouth this winter.

Well at least you didn't ruin a good car. Don't know how I missed you at Hershey this year, WAY too much going on that week. Do you have snow yet? We are supposed to get 5-8 in the AM.

No Doug, it was all bent up stuff. I can't do that to a complete car.
No snow yet but teens at night.

Well Doug, it does have a '34 DB grille shell with the Jay Leno chin cut off and a custom grille! I intentionally did a Plymouth so my DBC friends wouldn't give me crap! LOL! Oh yeah, and the remains of a '34 DB frame too! Shhh!!!
