so I did a quick search on removing a turn signal switch and came up empty handed. Anyone done one of these on a 1955 custom line?
On a Grant wheel like yours pop off the horn ****on under that is the horn ring and adapter hub the wheel is held on by 3 bolts remove it and the hub adapter the turn signal is under that. Here is the adapter kit used on your Ford.
Thank you! I've gotten a bunch of wiring done and now for the inner guts or wiring. The group is most knowledgeable hands down
The shaft will not need to come off, but that aftermarket adapter will before you can remove the turn signal switch. Do you have a puller that will fit that Y shape? it should remove pretty easily. After that is just a matter of a couple of one small screw and bolt to lift the whole switch out of the cup. (as I recall anyway)
So the "y looking part" just needs to be pulled off the shaft? Just a typical puller for a crank pulley or something should do?
A pulley puller would be overkill. You need a steering wheel puller. Any good parts store will have 'em.
I've had one of these for years low cost and works good too: http://www.harborfreight.com/bolt-type-wheel-puller-set-62620.html
Ford used the same color codes all through the 50's check this chart. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/media/albums/wiring-diagram-52-54-ford.40980/ Or order this for your specific year: http://www.wiring4cars.com/free.html
These diagrams usually print out at 8 X 10 I went to a Fed-Ex copy shop and had it blown up to an 11" X 14" and laminated cost about $6 made it a lot easier to read and grease proof.
