MISSING PERSON

I guess I'm on the fence- sometimes I liked him, and other times not so much. The same thing happens with my friends and family too, so what the hell. When he wasn't crucifying some keyboard "expert" who was full of shit, he was a pretty funny guy. ( and I used to like his Canadian Mountie avatar).

If you knew that you didn't know, you could learn from George.

If you knew that you knew - you could discuss with George. Even if it were differing opinions.

If you thought you knew, you could bump with George.

If you were sure that you knew, George would take you to school and then you could get offended and butt hurt.

The very fact that we are discussing MIA George indicates to me that this forum works and he just did contribute....

 

I wasn't going to wade into this, but...
I imagine I was on George's ignore list, so what! I liked the input he had on things.
There is one thing I'd like to know. What's a "snowflake"? Besides the thing we use to catch on our tongue as a kid. Guess I'm not hip enough to be up on all the new lingo.

Oh man...I remember all that...what a mess. Yes, the Old HAMB was fun and had its place, but to actually have a conversation about hot rods without someone chiming in and calling so and so a HAIRBITCH (tm) was almost impossible to do. I like this HAMB way more better.

I understand George's impatience lately. The mere quantity of new people here who think they understand history wears you down.
I will miss George and hope to see him return.
His delivery was sometimes red hot. I too understand the moderators for trying to steer him in a more civil approach. But history shows, the Titantic still lies on the bottom of the Ocean regardless of how many people evaluated the reason.

Ive been here since January 2004. There have been lots of people banned. And most have returned ? The ones I payed attention too at least. I hope Falcon George does too. He had Lots of good info and I for one am also tired of the newbie now it alls. Im member 2029 so the place has growm a little since I joined and changes are expected...

I was surprised to see this, he didn't seem the type to do something stupid . He lives in the next area west of me, but i never knew him or heard of him, if that's his name. I thought he was more of the drag racing type.
I expect he will be back one day, maybe after he gets some work done on that '39 Ford convertible he posted pics of.

 

What bothers me the most about this, is that in any public forum, all we are is an avatar and the words you choose to type. To some people that matters, to others, not. A picture and an opinion does not define who that person is, but in this world of anonymity called the internet, sadly it seams to be the status quo.

 

Falcon George is probably in the 1% of the sane people I know. A little 'jaunty', but his experience is vast.
I wonder how many pages (or posts) of lament I'd get if banned. Not many, I trust. LOL
'Honorable mention'? Fleeting recollection? Taillight memory?

Truer words my friend! This is an age of short attention spans, substituting opinion for knowledge (thinking they are the same thing), self absorption and having 800 Facebook "friends".
Yeah, I'm old, and I know BULLSHIT when I see it, that's compensation for getting old. People come to the HAMB and actually gripe because it's traditional! How dumb is that??!!!!
It's frustrating ( and I KNOW George felt this), to have some 30 year old tell you what it was like BEFORE THEY WERE BORN, when you were there. Not to mention just dumb.

 

UGH! I was wondering where he'd been also; especially since he and I have done business. I have his info around here somewhere; at least his drop box in Blaine, Wa. Like a LOT of guys I was a lurker here, for a long time, before I took the plunge. I belong to several sites; two are under the control of a single "automotive group", and they did a revamp just under a year ago. Everyone on that site had to re-register, some could't; I was one of them, and them trying on their end has't worked either. Nothing I've done can get me back on-line there, so I've just given up and lurk. One, I had been with since we got our first PC! At lot of guys would't survive on one of those forums; it's pretty rough, especially for a drag racing site. Guys from that site actually badmouth the HAMB (???), and even encouraged members there to "blow up" the HAMB by registering here, and criticizing Ryan and Co. I refer to those types as "3rd graders". That's the site, and an occurrence there, that resulted in me signing off as "Butch/56sedandelivery" on EVERY site I belong to. This "guy" wanted to know who I thought I was, so I told him; a little "passive-aggressive approach that worked. I've known guys here who were banned, and later re-appeared; I guess they took their lumps, and promised to behave. And I've known a couple who changed their IP address and handle, so they're back, and no-one's the "wiser"; or maybe they are? When I joined up here, there were a few guys whose use of the English language was very limited; mostly to language no "normal" person would use talking to their mother, sister, wife, boss, etc. Those were the ones I could't understand not getting banned, at least not having a "talking too" by the powers that be. I'm not talking about an occasional cuss word, but line after line after line laced with them. They've have gotten better though. I will say, I've NEVER seen a response like this to a members "disappearance", pro or con, on any site. I'm normally a pretty middle-of-the-road kind of guy, I don't try to make trouble; I've even made apologies a couple of times to members who took exception to something I said. I'm not perfect, despite what my wife says from time to time (???). No one is; I learned that a long time ago.

Well I noticed FG seemed to have more irritation but I thought I was just being sensitive! I hope his chill comes back before his kid hits puberty, THAT can be trying! I will miss him and do hope he decides to come back in his own time...
