Dean,-----I have 2001,2002,2004,2016 in case you missed some.

  3. Don, I am interested in '02 and '04. I don't have those.

  4. So somehow you are saying that because a MEMBER of the LA Roadsters, who is a show promoter, and who in most peoples opinion has turned the Grand National Roadster Show around from how it was declining, is going to ruin your perception of the Tradition of this show, just by his taking over. I think that is really short sighted. I know John quite well, and have been in constant contact with him since before this was even announced. He is Very Aware of the Traditions of this show and is working hard to keep them alive, but you don't seem to be willing to even give him and his staff, not to mention the input of the Club, a chance. Seems like you either have an Axe to grind with him, or just can't accept any change. Why don't you open you mind and wait and see what happens. This is Not going to be reversed because of yours or others opinions, but we Can influence the way the show comes out by giving Positive Suggestions as to what we would like to see continue and what needs to be fixed - and yes there are things that needed to be improved. Give it a chance won't you?

Yes as a matter of fact... , except for this last week ranging from 65 - 80 hours a week. I haven't had time even for one swap meet all year

Don, contrary to what you say , that is not what I was told when I went and asked about them nor did one show up after I got home. And , Yes I was registered . Will it keep me from attending, no because it is still one of the greatest events I've ever attended. With that experience and the addition of a roadster entry fee , I have just changed my focus to more of the swap meet while leaving my roadster at home , and the roadster's are what started it all.

I guess that pretty much sums it up! Somehow you must have missed my "Positive Suggestions". What are yours?

Although it looks like I'm wasting my time, I'll spell it out one last time for you.

Your selective quote above really shows that you ignored the point of that post and all the rest that I have made. Read them again and you'll see what you have written is not true. My statement that the promoters added profit margin adds a cost to the show is simply a fact that can't be denied.

You said that I "have an Axe to grind with him" which is not the case, just a statement of the fact that it is obviously an added cost, period.

Your statement that I "just can't accept any change" again ignores the words I have written. As a good friend of John Buck I expect you to defend him but I have nothing against him personally, he is just doing what he thinks is best for him. My suggestions would harm his financial interests.

And comparing the GNRS to the LARS is simply comparing apples to oranges, because the GNRS has always been a promoters show since it inception.

I am simply defending the LA Roadster's "tradition", nothing more, nothing less. As I have written before, I will support the show by attending and paying to enter as a spectator, specialty car drive-in or swap meet participant, regardless of the cost, as I always have when I don't drive a roadster through the gates.

I have tried to show that there is a different way to run the show by involving the passion of more people, especially young people, and I have said that is the clubs choice. The club is at a crossroads at this time and I wanted show that there is a another way, and I think a better way.

Just look at the spirit in which my posts were written, as a defense of the roadster "mystique" and how that is the basis of my defense of the tradition. Look at how Deuce Daddy Don's 300,000 miles in his roadster and his posts that point to what it was all about for the guys that started this club. Then you might understand why the tradition is worth preserving for the young guys that want to build a roadster, drive the wheels off it across the country and be rewarded for that in the original spirit of the LA Roadsters.

Or at least it will always be a great "car show" no matter what happens!

Thanks Don. Well stated. Factual and informative. I'll see you and all the other folks that will be there for all the right reasons, and we can simply enjoy the shit out of it. I'm certain it will be a great show, as usual ... ;)

For all of you out of towners driving some distance to the show this year, I would suggest that you pre-register. There are two reasons for that as I see it. The new group is only giving out mugs to the first 500 pre-registered roadster owners. Sad, because the club always gave them out to show their appreciation for displaying your car. Second and of equal or more importance is, by pre-registering, you will be able to park your car on grounds Friday between noon and 4p.m. very important if you do not have a safe place for your roadster Friday night. The hotels in the area are far from secure and several cars, including enclosed trailer ed ones have been stolen. For some reason the Sheraton has been a popular site for car thieves the last several years. The show is to enjoy and not a time to fill out a crime report and have to fly home. I've already mailed my entry in and made plans to be on grounds to park the roadster well before 4p.m. . The 4p.m cut off is nothing new, the club guys could be seen heading back to the hotel at 4p.m. I just don't want anyone traveling a long distance to have a problem on Friday. After over 40 years of attendance, I still get anxious as the date approaches, except now I can share my anxiety with my sons and now grandsons! I hope to enjoy the marvelous tradition for lots of years to come. Remember to pre-register! It will be worth it.

I am still going! Sold my old roadster. Couldn't stand the fact that I couldn't drive my roadster in so I got another one! If they adjusted the $15.00 1970s swap space to today it would be at least $150.

  16. You tell me Don. No need to ship them if you are coming down to the show this year. I'm not in a hurry. I can get them then.

Now that folks, is the attitude drips with tradition that makes Don, Dean, Vintagehotrod (Jerry), me, lurker mick and many others keep attending the show decade after decade. Real hot rodders sharing and enjoying real hot orders because we love it, and money only slightly involved. It's not so much a "show" as a gathering of clans, friends and soon to be friends! See ya there!

Can I make an observation, and maybe a bit of constructive criticism about the show/swap meet lay out? I've only been there twice and hope to make it back this year. As you walk in and pass the buildings, round the corner and pass Brizio's and the Brookville trailer on your way to the swap meet, you can see it in the far distance, you just have to spend all that wasted time crossing an EMPTY parking lot to get to the first vendor. Why not put vendors in the empty area and have the empty area out of sight. It would make for a closer knit of cars and vendors IMO. Bob

    Hello Q,
Sometimes it is as simple as rebooting your computer and signing in again. Once, I just happened to close the Chrome browser and upon clicking on the HAMB tab the next time, I needed to log in again. But, before I noticed that log in sign, I had tried to post an answer on a thread and it showed those same HAMB warning signs, over and over. So, I finally noticed that I needed to log in again.

If you check..."stay signed in" on the log in page, that only lasts until you thoroughly clean your computer with one of those "cleaner" programs. Those "cleaner" programs eliminate most sign in sections on websites as well as a bunch of other stuff that slows down your computer. A good thing to do when you are ready to shut down for the evening.

  30. I don't even own a roadster, but I'll be driving out from Maryland in my ol 40 Ford just to enjoy the show and meet up with some friends. It's not just the show, it's the journey! :)
