  1. Thanks for the GREAT "early 1931 Dodge DH6" photo! The second half of the year, they started using the Ram ornament. The car shown has the "shooting star" ornament.... man with DB DH6.JPG

Jimmy Bryan might have been the only driver to have driven this car in Practice during 1960. Owner Myron Osborn had tried to enter both Foster Campbell and Eddie Jackson as drivers but both were turned down for lack of experience. The car obviously passed Technical Inspection because a car couldn't go into the pits until it had its Tech sticker.

Rootie, Did anyone else drive this car that year? Thanks for posting.[/QUOTE]

Not that I'm aware of. The car was sponsored by Bob Jones's Skyland Ford out of Denver who sponsored several race cars out of the Denver area, notably the Kenz-Leslie Bonneville streamliner. Campbell and Jackson were both quite successful (mainly) midget drivers out of Denver but I guess that wasn't good enough for USAC. I believe the car was originally Al Kellers right side offset Kurtis that was converted to a left side offset, hence the big bubble over the motor.

Gary, great point, this is why this is such a cool thread.
Regardless of how important the old car hobby is to all of us, its the people from the past that made this thread possible.

Boston & Maine 4-4-0 (American type) steam locomotive No. 494 was built by the Manchester Locomotive Works, in Manchester, NH in July of 1892. It was one of a series of eight 4-4-0s ordered by the B&M at that time, builder's numbers 1543-1550, and railroad numbers 481-498.

The engine was retired in the mid 1930s, was displayed at the 1939 New York World's Fair.

In 1956, the engine was moved to the Westboro Round House in West Lebanon, NH, after which it went to White River Junction for permanent display. In July of 1957, the B&M No. 494 was formally dedicated to the town of Hartford, VT.

Why do I love this thread? Its because I can relate to all those 50's and 60's shots (because I lived them!). I can also appreciate the 30's and 40's photos that gave us our lifestyle! Many a night I relive my teen years through this thread and wish I was back there! A time of peace and freedom from the episodes of terror that we are living through today. This is my dream....that we can have a way of life that does not involve terrorism, racial discord or religious violence. Yes, its a dream, but we can always dream, can't we?

If you thought those old Renaults were cool, you were among the minority. They were terrible little cars that were unreliable and prone to rust. That's why you rarely see them these days.
