^^ That's one of my favorite designs of yours so far Moose. That top does wonders for it.

I want to take a whack at that Plymouth when I get some free time.

Moose, I don't know how you do what you do but it's m-a-g-i-c

  10. Sure is magic! And oldrelics, I know you didn't ask for opinions but I sure like the top version better. (Light car with dark inserts/top)

  14. Hey madfish...Thanks for the complement but if I was really a Magician I'd make myself disappear and then reappear
on a beach in Hawaii with a Mai Tai in each hand watching the surf roll in;)

You're right, you're not a magician. A real magician would have Christie Brinkley giving you a back rub while you're
on a beach in Hawaii with a Mai Tai in each hand watching the surf roll in.;)

  19. Hello Hambers, once again I need your help. Want to make my 62 Comet look a bit smarter. It's stock now, except 2 inch lowering all around.
So here are my plans for some decent modifications:
    - little bigger skinny whites on the 13inch rims (now 175/80, planning on 185/80)
    - 60 Impala lenses
    - lowering the back another 1/2 -1 inch (front height is right for me)
    - nice caps (the turbine style I've added a picture of or maybe you got another idea)
    - maybe fenderskirts
    - Nice metalflake paint on the roof (as it was repainted professional by the former owner in original light aqua (depending on the ambient light, this colour looks sometimes greenish and sometimes a bit more like light blue, as you can see in the pictures), it would be a sin to paint the car completely in another colour. But I don't know, which colour to choose for the roof. I'd prefer a darker colour as a contrast, maybe a very dark teal or dark green. Or maybe white? Maybe some subtle laces? I go crazy about that question  I added colour samples, but your opinions are highly appreciated.

These are my wishes, I hope, somebody can visualize them. And yes I know, it's a fourdoor compact, but it's as big as the biggest Mercedes and Opels in that era and I love the early sixties style on my car and its somewhat affordable here.

Any ideas are welcome. Thanks in advance and greetings from the Black Forest in South-West Germany Carsten
I hope my english is not to bad :)

    @Black Forest Comet
    Carsten,
If you want to use hubcaps on whitewall tires, you might want to size up to 14" wheels. The selection of tires will be greater, and many more nice hubcaps will be available, too.
If I remember correctly, your 13" 4-lug wheels are the same pattern as early Mustang 4-lug wheels, which go cheaply here in the States. (Can any Falcon/Comet owners confirm?)

  22. Thanks for your comment Dave, I highly appreciate that. You're right, it's both 4 x4,5 pattern, but there are not many mustang six-banger in Germany, so the 14" 4-lug wheels are very rare. Currently it's one set of 4 for sale, the guy wants 220 $ and it's located 350 miles away, which means another 80 $ shipping. And the rims look like fresh from the junk, which means you have to sandblast and paint them. And my 13" were blasted and painted by the previous owner 3 years ago and are in very good shape. Mhhhhm, maybe nobody wants the 14" for 220 $ and I can make a bargain ;);)
Thanks again for your effort and have a nice evening.
    Greetings from the Black Forest
    Carsten

Chopped my '52 Tin Woody project and "finished" the chop in photoshop to see the end result in advance.

Looks good! How much did you take out of the top? The two door and big rear window makes it look longer.

Thanks! The A-pillars are now 2 ½ inches shorter and the back end of the roof is about 3 ½...3 ¾ lower.
